It is almost unfortunate that in space engineers you don't really need any fancy cargo moving systems. I think the intention was that medieval engineers would involve that though.

If the mechanics here were flushed out better, such as a capped capacity of how much of anything can travel through a connection per second, something like this to move things in bulk could become necessary. The conveyer sorters already work in this way. If someone were to design a mod or a plugin for this which prevents players or scripts from moving a full large cargo container's worth of ore from one container to another in an instant, blueprints like this will have a use in a custom game, where now the choice of waiting 'x' amount of minutes for a mining ship to drain, vs just detaching its cargo containers and swapping for empties, becomes a consideration.

this is so, so cool. I can visualize a whole network of this inside and around a shipyard, ferrying materials in between the different bays, those containers being traded around and handed off, attached to freighters and work vehicles alike... eagerly (and patiently!) waiting to see what you come up with next

Holy shit. This is the kind of madness we space engineers LIVE for. The passion project continues!

Boris just casually overengineering a space station's cargo system. then again there is no such thing as 'overengineered' 😂

Would be cool if cables were added so you could do proper cargo cranes.

or blocks that transfer power via contact so I can do actual monorails

This kind of set up would be practical if not Necesary if cargo containers didnt hold so much damn cargo!
@indigenous.rabbit2877 Жыл бұрын
very cool I'm gonna use this for internal transit in my carrier build

I have a smaller, passenger monorail on my capital ship, since that ship is too big to walk around
@indigenous.rabbit2877 Жыл бұрын
@@borischung01 yeah I'm building a massive carrier inspired by homeworld deserts of kharak, with all the realistic manufacturing capabilities and interior spaces. Something like this would add a bit of visual storytelling while not truly being functional and hopefully not adding too much lagg, fingers crossed

can the forklift thing still lift container when it is full? I can imagine it would just tip over
@borischung01 Жыл бұрын
in 0G yes. But still not exactly the most practical solution

You ever thought about making a control station, putting numbers on the side, and remote controlling them with timers and such?
@borischung01 Жыл бұрын
Nah, mobile, antenna range based cargo terminal command ship So I can control multiple cargo terminals with a single ship using the exact same commands And then remote into each cargo terminals and use the search lights control mode as surveillance cameras
