I was put off of building a bigger ship just to find ores in asteroids, so I did just this. Thank you for the help
@rickybeeSE3 жыл бұрын
The is an easier way, on PC anyway. On your base, add a rotor (large head), add the ore detector to that. Then on the side of the ore detector add another rotor with a small head. Then build the rest of the ship from there. Just works.

Nice! I will have to try that!

I just use the Hungry Rotor Trick - Timer block loops attach on a sg 3x3 rotor Then I drop a large adv rotor on it and it grabs on, even if the rotor is pointing sideways!! It also allows my respawn pod to have a basic assembler attached to it and uses the ingots from the survival kit to build early components, it's a good early game trick! @D_Rogers shows all the ways to use HRT on his channel, including tricks to avoid klang and faux gravity, but I don't think he is still making videos.

Oh this is so good. Someone was asking about mounting sideways ages ago.

Another easy way is, build large ore detector on the ground > large rotor, remove head and add small head > small battery top of the head (in case if you dont wanna lose it on pvp servers) > small merge block.. thats all now you can add small merge block to your small ship or small rover. You can also add magnetic landing gear underneath ore detector so you can eject and leave it somewhere

if you did this and saved blueprint can you print the ship like that or you will need to kind of cheese the rotars again like this?
@GameExplorerOfficial2 жыл бұрын
That is a great idea. Should work!
@adeep1872 жыл бұрын
@@GameExplorerOfficial I jusy tested and you can't load the blueprint with "multiple grids". So it will only load the larger grid which is likely not the detector.
@goodtoseeya15433 жыл бұрын
Man thx for the idea. I added a jumper on small grid with this method, and it works!. Now I'm trying to do this in space with no gravity :(. Any idea how to "drop" the head in space?

I saw a video once where a guy was putting these on the side of his ship so he was using a different method. If I can remember or find the video I'll let you know.
@GameExplorerOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Well that other video won't work. However, you could use a gravity generator.

how tf you did this if your in space with no natrual gravity the rotor will not falll
@GameExplorerOfficial2 жыл бұрын
I dont think anyone has that figured out. Someone tried using a gravity generator but it didn't work.
@comcastjohnАй бұрын
What about doing that in space?
@GameExplorerOfficialАй бұрын
Tried but no. Even with a gravity generator it doesn't work. Now that was a while ago so maybe it will work now.
