As an old KSP player, I'd say your rover needs more thrusters.

1 little tip: just add a sensor that detects a full rotation and everytime it went there expand the piston by 1 tick. Its much cleaner :)

@baguiobyben12
@baguiobyben12 5 жыл бұрын
Wholy ❶ by counting how many seconds it would take to do a full rotation. It's doable with a single timer block and programmable block combo not with sensors.

Kinda like a 40mm, but instead of expanding slowly, it expands very very quickly!

You should make the Ice mining rig a refueling station for hydrogen based ships. You wouldn't have to put to much focus on hydrogen production in your main base that way, and it's still remotely close so you can keep a close eye on it.

The power produced bye the wind turbines will be effected by neighbouring blocks. I have found that having them 8 blocks apart will allow them to work at there maximum efficiency.

You should take a look at the timer blocks. If you find out how long it takes the drills to make one complete revolution, you can set a timer block to extend the maximum length of the drills a little bit every time they make a complete circuit.
@jlinkous05
@jlinkous05 5 жыл бұрын
Or set the piston speed so that they extend X meters per revolution, to spiral cut the ice instead of layer cut.
@Runescope

That's what he's doing already. It works too, but he should practice with timers now while it's relatively simple. :)

You don't need a drill on every block, you can alternate drills and conveyors for the same effect.

In this case, if he put a remote control on his rover and made waypoints with it to aoutomattically doc and unload its ores, it would be VEREY useful. Also i love the auto miner concept you came up with, verey creative

I think somehow I ended up in the same place as you, in my current gameplay. I recognize the surrounding mountains, my pod ended up up there, but after I retrofitted it to fly, I went exploring and discovered the exactly same lake you operate on and built myself a base by its shores, up on a nice flat grass patch.

hmmm...what about putting the support pylon for the drill system on a rotor itself so that once it has drilled down to its maximum depth, it can swing around and drill another section of the lake?
@DaddyGrindstien
@DaddyGrindstien 5 жыл бұрын
I did exactly that just yesterday in a test world and was able to cut a perfect 1km wide crop circle in the ice lake that could easily be seen from space. It's actually kinda OP. I have no Idea what I'm gonna do with all that ice, but I know that wherever my ship may take me.... I'll always have cold drinks! XD

I would have used a flying cargo hauler to get the ice. It'd mean building another vessel, but with that hill? It's that or build the conveyors all the way to the top of the cliff, and extract to the hauler truck from there.
@hermesvoeglein535
@hermesvoeglein535 5 жыл бұрын
Performancewise, don't use too much conveyorjunctions, they tend to drop the sim-speed and cause lagissues if you use an overabundance of them, if you can use a standart conveyor for something use it instead of a junction. Won't be a problem right now but it will be in the future, when you start to amass more and larger grids.
@fastergaming3494
@fastergaming3494 5 жыл бұрын
I think thats why when i use ONLY conveyor juctions, my game crashes and the ship bugs out. That or its a graphics card problem because 2 of the four gave in and one corrupted my pc so i had to reboot everything and had to learn a lot of things to the game all over again.

i think the best approach could be making lift next to some almost vertical hillclimb, less resources, more fun ... or conveyor system system instead, rover should be light enough to climb hill on its own

Great videos! Question: I have a similar setup for a mobile drilling rig, but with much smaller drill diameter that your stationary drill rigs. Problem is I constantly have to repair the Advanced rotor's rotor head that is directly attached to the drills, for some reason it keeps on taking damage, which then cause the ore transfer to back up in the drills. The vehicle can lock down onto the voxels, so it isn't shaking when drilling. I have tried everything so far but it keeps taking damage. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

If your drill head is small, it may be the voxels colliding with your rotor head. And if thats true, try widenning your drill head (if its small, like 3 by 3, or smaller)

@@fastergaming3494, I managed to fix it, it seem the speed that I had for the Large Advance rotor's rotation was a tad to fast, dropped it by 50% and now I it working perfectly.

Rather than have the pistons going constantly set them up with a timer block to extend every (x) amount of time (going at .25 you would want it to trigger every 4 minutes )
