Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the twentieth episode of this semi-hardcore survival series, in this episode I drill out the hangar, place all of the blocks down and make a good effort to having it completed about half way! Though we are limited by Iron, so a short mining trip is in order.
Thanks for watching! and if you liked this episode be sure to drop me a like and consider subscribing for Episode 21!!

Nice video man. That first time lapse song was awesome! The hangar is going to be amazing once you get it finished, so much space! On the subject of "Extra work" to strive for perfection, I'll quote another SE youtuber who often says "Enjoy the journey." There is a point where each play through plateaus, and rushing towards that point is senseless. I just finished your "how to Large Grid Ship" 6 part series, and wow. I've now got a carrier in the pipeline that is awesome. Your content is amazing, and the way you laid that build out gave me what I needed to start cranking out larger scale large grid builds, where I was clueless before. So thanks for all the time and work you put into these videos. It is appreciated!

For the rear thrusters, instead of disabling them every time. You can get up to speed, disable dampers with Z and your ship will keep moving at that velocity without burning fuel. Enable dampers, and you'll automatically slow down (because rear thrusters are firing), this helps just in case you forget to actually turn on your backwards thrusters, and reduces the chance of smashing into an asteroid or anything.
@TheGarageGamer86
@TheGarageGamer86 11 ай бұрын
Yeah the only reason I disable the front thrusters and keep the rest on is so that I can maintain some type of steering, so if I want to change direction and go to another episode I don't loose heaps of speed or have to hold the forward thrusters on 😎👌

I opt for the lazy mode way of doing excavations to neatly fit an in terrain base by using the drill&fill mod which will remove a designated area, usually to neaten up something that's been drilled in a more vanilla way. Also can work alongside the build&repair mod to work on a projected starter bunker while I go off exploring the local area for mining spots and POIs

I recomend you getting modded welders. They are such an amazing quality of life add on. The aditional reach alowes to build large structures like your hangar in no time. Also. Qhen leftklick mining the large gridd drill excavates a hole with about 2 blocks with (or 5m). This alowes to use a drillwhall on a stick (pistons) for a almost perfect shaped excavation with low effort and acceptable timeconsume (at about 0.4mps the quality per time spent seams as good as it getts).

@hunnybunnysheavymetalmusic6542
@hunnybunnysheavymetalmusic6542 Жыл бұрын
Could use the projector and welder ship to place blocks as well, by the way. Not sure if its faster, but it would be super easy to just cut away one section, blueprint it, then use the same blueprint to weld it back into place [with a merge block of course, but then move the projection to the end and use the welding ship some more. Or use the one ring to project another ring, then double that, then double that, and so forth until the whole thing is done with its own blueprint without even moving it, and then weld the ends back together.
@TheGarageGamer86
@TheGarageGamer86 Жыл бұрын
I was waiting for this comment 😎👌, and I didn't even think of it as an option until I was editing that section of the video!! Although it is time consuming to add the blocks by hand though at least I don't have to worry about the welders being in the way of placing the blocks down. I'm not sure if you noticed but it is hard to keep the ship parallel and level with the blocks and the welders were often dragging against the ground 🤔

First of all, I enjoy your videos, but....builds overcomplex drilling guide projection...manually places all the hanger blocks...definitely should've at least made one row the size of the hanger and then just keep pushing the projection forward lol 😁
@TheGarageGamer86
@TheGarageGamer86 11 ай бұрын
Yeah it might works better that way, but adjusting the projection every time is a bit of a pain, for digging out the hanger you only really use them once so it is a bit of a time sink, but for later hallways and such it will be OK because I will use them over and over which kinda makes it worth it. I did think about just projecting the blocks on the floor to weld them up but the weld ship is very hard to keep level so I just find it easier to place them down before welding them up 😎

I just caught up to this series, I enjoy it. I suggest you set the Assault Cannon's to aim for power, because that is usually centre mass on most ships, those quads are really inaccurate and currently are aimed at outlier weapon systems, and keep the gatlings on weapons. For the drilling why not just set up a bunch of pistons and drills and do straight lines that way? Are they much more rocky? With the amount of resources you're dealing with, when you add the Reavers or whoever, it might be worth checking out Izzy's Inventory Manager to automate stuff for you. Other streamers seem to find it useful. Re: Your Drone attack fleet. Splitsie has a great little tutorial on the new drone system if you want to watch it. I will throw you the exact link to the video if you want. My personal opinions from my binge of this playlist is maybe turn down your game just a little, because your intro and any guns make me ride the youtube volume to balance your voice, and usually will go over you talking. Your timelapse volume choice is perfect though, I really enjoy the type of music you use, it gives off that SE vibe. Otherwise I really enjoy your work! Looks nice!

Just wait until you see the weapons I have in the latest episode lol. But yeah I need to play around with the targeting a little bit 😎👌. Yeah honestly building something like the drilling setup would only really be worth it if I was making a very long tunnel, sometimes you spend more time building a thing to build another thing that it's just quicker to do it by hand, and then you have to dismantle it as well lol. Inventory manager script is also on my to-do list as well 😉. Yeah it's weird the sound in this game, weapons and large grid ships are SOOO loud in this game and I have a mod by Splitsie to reduce the noise of welders and weather, I might ask him if he can add those things in. It also doesnt help when sometimes my voice is loud and sometimes it is not because I'm tired or something 😅😂. Nevertheless I am glad you enjoy the content mate!! 😎👌

@@TheGarageGamer86 Just ME I suppose... And people who like to make gigantic projects like HavocLP who is one of my all time fave S.E. streamers [mainly because he keeps screwing up and getting himself killed in the most hilarious ways, but that is beside the point]... So much for getting to the end of the game too fast, this current season is 156 episodes long and still going strong. He has built a massive moon base [after leaving a massive planetside base] made over a dozen ships, captured another dozen, and seeking to conquer the entire solar system I suspect. He is perfecting a monstrous heavy carrier he began in another season, and is populating it with a hoard of heavy fighter drones and some heavy landing rover drones, so the future is looking quite epic. On top of all of that, he gets attacked by orcs in almost every episode, so there is always some good heated combat action on hand to keep the building from being boring. Its all how you play the game.

Just and refine the stone. You are wasting so much iron, nickel and silicon when you toss the stone. It makes sense to do so when on planet and you need to drill down many meters to get to a deposit. But when building big you want all the stone you can get.
@TheGarageGamer86
@TheGarageGamer86 8 ай бұрын
Yeah the only problem is the time it takes to fly back to cargo and dump it into the refineries, to drill out spaces this size with that little miner would take like 40 trips 😅. From a time perspective it just makes more sense to mine those ore's directly. You can setup drills and pistons to do it, but again that takes a lot of time as well 🤔

Nah it's just the drivers unfortunately, the Vega 64 is what I started this channel on and it was working fine at 1440P for years, but I had left the drivers at a really old version from 2019. But when I put it into the new computer, I had to install a later version and that's when the problems started. It used to be super stable in Space Engineers right up until the point I moved it and in the event viewer it says the driver crashed. On top of that Microsoft keeps automatically updating the driver, but you need Pro to permanently disable that through a group policy hack. Which is what I had to do with my main rig that has the 6800XT because it was happening every few days and would take me an hour to un-install new drivers and then install the old ones again. Lucky I work in IT, otherwise I'd just buy NVIDIA cards......
