From my understanding the resources from each area are applicable across the whole continent. so lava in one area can be used to build a building needing its resource in another area. also settler rep is total settler type x improvements so 2 buildings in a zone that provide yellow increase the reputation by 1.5 x settlers.

Very cute. I thought it was underwater at first but I guess that's the "night time" colour palette. Having bugger all instruction set apart from "here's a set of things that do things for/to other things" instead of "connect thing A to thing B using the big flashing highlighted bit then use this highlighted bit to make dongle X and then use dongle X by putting it in flashing bit Y" [repeat a few dozen times with different things' I find rather refreshing. Like back in the 80s and 8-bit gaming, especially when you'd tape copied a game and had _zero_ instructions for it!

I think the game's biggest problem is that it doesn't clearly explain the core gameplay loop, leading people to get confused because they expect mechanics that aren't there. It's not a colony sim, or even a real-estate sim. It's basically a strategy game: you look at the available build sites in each region, and pick the right combination of buildings that will let you recruit the right combination of colonists to upgrade the region as much as possible. Most of the game's mechanics are completely self-explanatory; every building tells you where you can build it, what it costs, and what it provides, and that's all you need to know. The food producer gives you three food points when you build it; it costs one food point to build a house; that's it. It doesn't produce anything beyond those initial points, which is fine because your colonists don't have a continuing need for food; you just have to have a point available when you build a house.

Thank god for a short tutorial. Hate games that hold your hand from start to finish because they think you can't figure out anything for yourself. Especially exploration games. (No Man's Sky :p)
