Johnny Quest was originally scheduled for Prime Time. Unfortunately, it was too expensive to produce so only one season was made. They edited out some of the violence and reused it as a Saturday morning cartoon.

THIS... along with Mightor, The Herculoids, Johnny Quest, Dino Boy In The Lost Valley etc etc etc ...is what made my Saturday mornings an escapist's dream.☺ Non-stop sci-fi/fantasy... with a touch of light horror on the side ...made mid to late 60s a fantastic fiction paradise, and most of this thanks to Hanna-Barbara. Steady diet of this stuff and it's no wonder I was voraciously reading Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert E. Howard, and others by 11, 12 years old🤣👍🏾 65 years old as I write this, and I can't help but think Sci-fi/Fantasy lovers have it sooooo good nowadays. 😏

Actually, between Space Ghost, Birdman And The Galaxy Trio, The Herculoids and others... 😁 ...with some good writers, you could rival the Marvel and DC universes... 😉 ...that is, IF this was really done properly. They better do it soon though, 'cause the generation that knew the original 60s Sci-fi/fantasy cartoons is almost deceased (in 20 years) there's not much chance of the film industry "cashing in" on nostalgia like like they did with 80s/90s HeMan and Transformers. The Space Ghost segments were seen again in the 1976 series Space Ghost and Frankenstein Jr. (which replaced the Dino Boy segments with the Frankenstein Jr. ones from fellow Hanna-Barbera show Frankenstein Jr. and The Impossibles), which aired on NBC from November 27, 1976, to September 4, 1977, after NBC put The Kids From C.A.P.E.R. on hiatus. From February 4 to September 2, 1978, all 20 Hanna-Barbera produced episodes were rerun as part of a short-lived umbrella package titled Go-Go Globetrotters, which also contained repeats of the 1960's action-adventure series "The Herculoids",and also repeated episodes of "Harlem Globetrotters","Motormouse and Autocat", and a new entry along with that season titled "C.B. Bears". It also replaced two other low-rated shows: Filmation's The New Archie/Sabrina Hour, which by then had been split into two shows, and Farmhouse Films/Fred Calvert's I Am the Greatest: The Adventures of Muhammad Ali.

It's a shame, that the Hanna-Barbera '80s version of Space Ghost and The Herculoids, with other characters like Teen Force, called "Space Stars" wasn't a good show. Even though the final story '60s Space Ghost against the Council of Doom was a crossover with Shazzan, The Herculoids, Moby Dick, etc.., it was a shame Hanna Barbera didn't do more episodes of those characters at the time. 30 or fewer episodes were the norm for Hanna Barbera back then. By the late '70s, Hanna Barbera's cartoons were terrible. Their golden age was from 1958 to around 1970.

Didn't Adult Swim also reuse Space Ghost as a talk show host who would interview villains with strategically placed censorship bleeps to make it seem like he (or his guest) were cussing? I have vague memories of this. It was in the very early days of Adult Swim.

Anyone remember the Archies which is going back a bit. Scooby Doo, Herculoids, Banana Splits, Space Ghost, Johnny Quest, Road Runner, Aqua man, Dastardly and Mutely, Josie and the Pussy cats, Flintstones, Pebbles and Bam Bam to name some from the top of my head.
