I once did the math in high school and (apologies in advance for freedom units) an accurate scale model of the solar system, if the earth was 1 foot in diameter (which is about the size of an average globe), in a straight line from the sun to Pluto, would take up 40 miles. That's how much empty space there is between celestial bodies.
