My low key favorite version of Space Mountain! We come so far is truly missed but still lives on instrumentally

I think part of what makes classic space mountain special is the atmosphere. It knows when to be charming and welcoming, dark and moody, peaceful and atmospheric, ominous and creepy. It really encapsulates everything ABOUT space exploration. Nowadays it leans too much into the airport vibe. To (in my opinion) the point it clashes with the classic stuff still left in the ride.

"Charming and welcoming, dark and moody, peaceful and atmospheric, ominous and creepy" You hit it on the nose! The old experience builds tension and anticipation SO well, and culminates with a very simple roller coaster in the dark. And that sensory dep just works.

This was the greatest space mountain. Nothing beats the magic of the original. It’s very watered down these days

Wonderful tribute! Sad to see that the small domed flying saucer with Nipper, the RCA dog mascot, was no longer present at the entry as you first walked in. I wonder what year he was removed?

He was sadly removed when the ride was updated in 1984 :(
