Fun fact: The tactic that Rasalhague used is something called total defense which entails that the population of the country is considered being part of the military when attacked and no surrender will be accepted neither from the higher ups nor the enemy so they will fight until death claims them or the enemy just gives up and Sweden today use that tactic as well so you named this episode very well mostly by accident i think.

The Swedish doctrine (not tactic; that's for direct battlefield actions, e.g. hit-and-run attacks) that you mention is known as "free war" (Swedish: fria kriget), and although it has been discontinued in official Swedish military doctrine, it is still present in various books and military manuals. Fun fact: This doctrine is also associated with mission-type command, which gives commanding officers practically limitless autonomy in how they execute the mission that they had been ordered to undertake; in short, any orders could be disobeyed and any rules could be broken, as long as the mission was successful. This was demonstrated very visibly by Nordbat 2, a Nordic battalion comprising Swedish, Danish and Norwegian units under a Swedish commander that was sent to the Bosnian War as part of the UNPROFOR's peacekeeping operation; unlike pretty much every other UN peacekeeping force, Nordbat 2 flipped the bird to any notion of "staying neutral" (read: step side and turn their eyes away from any belligerents committing war crimes) as well as repeated complaints from officers up the chain and politicians back home, and actively clashed with everyone that dared to trespass on the areas they were tasked with protecting, or even had the bright eye of shooting at them with lethal intent and expect them to turn tail (a certain Serbian unit were blasted into oblivion by concerted Danish tank fire in retaliation once).

I don't think the Clans used warships up til Turtle Bay. But they were usually part of the opening bid. If things got too tough, a clan could fall back to the forces of the opening bid - it would be a loss of honor to do so, but not as much of a loss as losing the fight altogether. By removing warships from their opening bid, Clan Wolf forced all the other clans to do the same and thus no clan would be allowed to use a warships in a fight, no matter what. And remember, Clan Wolf was a warden clan and actually opposed the invasion from the get-go but was outvoted and thus conducted the invasion in a way, that would help the warden cause as much as possible.

Fun thing about all those "honor fighting" rules, a major reason it was invented by Nicky in the first place was because Smoke Jaguar kept commiting war crimes on its enemies. And the enemy's civilians. And bystanders. This was in Clan Space, known for having resource and population bottlenecks. Thanks for the video.

That's a very fancy way of spelling Dana Kufahl. Sure, Nicky K was talking about "honourable combat", but Dana actually encouraged her warriors to do the whole 1v1 thing (specifically when taking planet Babylon). Which they have continued to do. And then everyone had copied it. And then it was codified into Zellbrigen. Info courtesy of Field Manual: Warden Clans.

Clan wolf bidding away their warships was deliberate: remember, they are a warden clan and did NOT approve of the invasion though they were strongarmed into being part of it. They WANTED to sabotage the invasion, and forcing everyone to bid away their warships fits PERFECTLY into that. hell, they also decided to keep their invasion at a pace they knew other clans wouldnt be able to follow (which they managed because unlike other clans they didnt neglect their logistics and treating the locals well meant they didnt have to tie up their forces to deal with revolts... and also because they had a hand from Comstar after they started opposing the clans), but would TRY to because having the warden clan do better than them would shame them. Overal, Clan Wolf repeatedly messed with the invasion by PURPOSEFULLY doing better than everyone else knowing other clans would stumble trying to match them also note, by that point the clans use trueborn; just because the clan wolf Khan is a Kerensky doesnt mean he is part of their litteral family tree, by that point Kerensky is just a bloodname (that only clan wolf gets to use) so there is plenty of kerenskys

There wasn’t really any real involvement of warships before Edo, it was mostly “we want it on the board in case we somehow really need it.” Especially since they didn’t know if the Inner Sphere had warships (and barring ComStar, they didn’t. The clans (usually) crushed open (and direct) opposition quickly, which let them proclaim control of worlds. It's just that whatever was left unaccounted for tended to form resistance movements. Along with more proactive and driven citizens joining up to take back their home. Edit: As far as I know, Tex probably won't talk about Dark Age or Ilclan, and I don't know about the one that won't be named. You'll have to go elsewhere. Big Red and Mech Frog are down for talking about the machines of those eras, and Big Red will include relevant history in his longer vids, but big broad talks ,about the events themselves like TTBT Amaris Coup? Yeah, I don't know of anyone who's doing those eras like that at present. Edit2: The guy voicing the founding Adder Khan is Big Red. Prior to the Sabre Cat opening up, Elementals had been going house to house looking for the young Kurita, his allies, or information on the whereabouts thereof. They also had APC's engaging fleeing gangsters on sight in running car fights. The Cat was the Crescendo, but there had been dark building of the piece to get to that zenith of indiscriminate rage. And the key distinction here is that the Sabre Cat was not acting against uniformed combatants, but the civilian population. This was not dishonor in fighting warriors of the sphere on uneven terms, this was the dishonor of a REPRISAL. One visited upon an entire city for the actions of people who had been criminals under the previous government as well. Tex was saying there was outcry even WITHIN Smoke Jaguar. One of the worst clans in treatment of their civilian castes, and even their own ranks dissented against such actions. Wolf did not throw away fire from on high without thinking. They didn't even want to invade in the first place, and now saw a chance to not only undermine their rivals by removing strategic reserve assets from consideration, but prevent any more Turtle Bays from being caused by the Clans in this invasion.

10:30 - The Smoked Jaguars glassing Edo was indeed one of the reasons why they were targeted in Operation Bulldog. They were the most brutal Clan, commiting several atrocities. They also chose them because they were one of the strongest and biggest Clans, which would make annihilating them a better show of force. The other was to take pressure from the Draconis Combine and secure their capital world of Luthien. Perez effectively was a big contributor to have them loose the invasion by doing this. 12:55 - The Wolves were sabotaging the Clan Invasion by playing the Crusader Clans, pushing their buttons by playing on their honor. That's why they immediately jumped on bidding out their warships and thereby greatly hindering the invaders.
