Destiny 2 does have in-game transactions........but it's mostly cosmetics and in no way pay to win in that respect (excluding the DLC expansions released on the regular that need to be cheaper, instead of paying full game prices).

Destiny 2's micro transactions really ain't that bad and the hate over it it is very overblown imo. Almost all of it is optional and while I do think the expansions are a bit pricey I think for the most part you get your money's worth out of it. D2 may be free to download but the free parts are intended to be more of a unlimited time demo to see if you like the game enough to buy expansions. So it's closer to free to try.
