Both endings you made were good but I like this ending better. In the first one you have this sense of impending doom knowing that earth and all of humanity is gone, but that quickly becomes an afterthought when the two main characters die. They passed on and joined their loved ones. Here however, for the survivor there’s nothing. No way to get off the moon. Just being stranded knowing that humanity is gone. Earth is gone. And you’re left on the moon with you dead comrade. True hopelessness. Sorry for this being long.

@@Attackplaya I'm just a layman, but based on my limited understanding, a couple things: 1. It could slow earth's orbital speed, causing it to fall in closer to the sun. Or it could add speed and either eject us from the solar system, or push us further out to the orbit of Mars or Jupiter. (We don't want to be there AT ALL) 2. It could disturb the balance between earth and the moon, causing them to slowly come closer to one another, or further apart. Closer means higher tides, potentially massive tsunami, further means our seasonal axial tilts become more extreme. Years of the poles facing the sun?

I'm no physicist but that's just the immediate effects of the earth being suddenly pulled where it isn't meant to that I can think off the top of my head.

I just imagined a very suffocating scenario about this. If Whale's stomach did not somehow contain Earth in one piece, only way remaining is Moon getting very close to a habitable planet, and our man alone somehow flying there. Let's assume that habitable planet is roughly suitable for life and our man's survival, breathing... Let's say that planet got it's own animals and trees and food. Extreme luck. But no intelligent beings... The most depressing part is, being the only remaining witness of this, desperately trying to study biology and trying to make a child, desperately trying ways to reproduce. And then, since you won't have enough time to teach language maybe until you figure out how to reproduce, you have to make shapes like a long gone earth, like a whale eating Earth... Being a basis for multiple confusions, beliefs... But I doubt you will have enough time and idea to cover all of humanity's story. Incredibly depressing, you will lead a whole intelligent life form and they won't know about the whole Earth that had your love of life in. Multiple scenarios here, maybe a way to reproduce through studying biology is found miraculuously, or a very dark story, tried to sort out most intelligent animals in the planet to reproduce... And yeah... Somehow happened, human-animal hybrids... And then a civilization of animal people is built, as intelligent as humans. Maybe they learn about Earth through your carvings... Or maybe you had enough time to teach language, so a culture is formed and new humanimality progressed far faster than original humanity with a lot more peace and carefulness. As if humanity just had a rebirth in exchange of becoming animal people. Due to technological advances being very fast, faster if we assume our man lived a lot longer, in 500 years maybe the society will have evolved at today's society level. In another 150 years, they managed to advance a lot in space technologies, realized our current dreams of warping space to go faster than light, and now are going to rule the space, as animal people. Maybe they will seek out the incident, will learn about the whale, create giant stations with lots of security and supplies, made of a lot more indestructible and resistant materials than the best we can imagine today, in the space as a backup for their planet. Maybe they will find out what this whale thing is all about, they will face it. Maybe they will hunt it down with unimaginably advanced weapons, and cut it's stomach open, to either find the crumbled Earth, or a time-frozen Earth that is conserved safely somehow. Year 700-800, the whale is faced, Earth is rediscovered, either crumbled or conserved, thanks to our man not ending it all and going through and doing the darkest things. If crumbled, the animal people will study it. Find many things. Learn humanity properly. If conserved, the Earth will be saved. For Earth people, it will feel like zero second, in an instant animal people saves them. Races, societies unite. Lots of spaceships are sent to Earth's latest location, many lifeform gen samples are taken, all humans and their loved animals are taken into incredibly large space ships which may as well be stations. Humans live longer in the planet animal people live in. Science and technology advance, people get to live almost immortally. Space and everything is now under hands of this upgraded society, the whole planet is now very secured with special materials, the heat levels, atmosphere, movement and everything is controlled. No more death or catastrophic event for anyone anymore. Just in 900 years, the civillization is upgraded and fully armed, for humanity it was not even a second. But... Our man's wife, the love of his life, finds out about everything through the historical tale of animal people. Very mixed feelings. She is recognized by the society as the wife of ultimate hero that didn't give up and armed us. She's given a lot of support, is honored by everyone. She had children with the man 900 years ago. Though a man saved and doubled a civillization, in the beginning he had to find means of reproducing and it was not the best thing to remember of, and for him too as well. But it resulted in all of these. Children want to be like their dad, except that one thing. Due to many problems and conflicts of civillizations is minimized by such a human-made miracle uniting everyone and everything, and the animal people started off with language and a guy teaching everything, technological advancement is unimaginably fast. Whole planet controlling and isolation is possible, planet is indestructible even if an astronomical wolf chewed it. Civillization started to control stars, other planets, habitating and securing other planets, stopping orbits, making synthetic automatical processes for planets for them to be the most habitable thing in the whole universe. Creating a forcefield for whole star system to prevent anything approaching unwanted. Making the star system field breathable with no air escape, though orbiting would be dangerous. But planets are literally armored with materials that can survive a space wolf. Every living being is modified with survival in space alone, less hunger and thirst. Every living being is modified with flesh that will in no way be harmed or hurt by colliding into a star. Every living being is modified by mobility in space, preventing infinite and random floating. And every living being's mind is connected to astronomical internet with instant data transfer around the universe that shows 1:1 accurate GPS and map of known universe, and people around, so nobody is lost. Indestructible, infinite lives with no loss anymore. Nowhere is dangerous, nothing is inevitable. No boredom, no pain. All thanks to the dark times people managed through. Let's now make it scientifically accurate! Man lacked oxygen and nutrients until the moon came next to a habitable planet, the end. Or, moon came really close to a habitable planet just in time somehow and the man flied to that planet, but planet is badly affected by moon's close call and is now unhabitable. Or, man couldn't reproduce. Lived an exotic life, left signs of everything and secured it so it never got destroyed and is found, and died. New intelligent humanoid beings evolved on that planet and found out. Everything happened a lot slower, and they went to their moon, and experienced the same whale scenario. Loop. Or the guy gave lots of critical information that led to faster civillization. Same stuff, incredibly slower. Threat of whale was constant. Anyways, I'mma cry. I love all life. I hope lives are not ended and I hope everyone gets to live infinitely with everything and everyone they love.

Honestly… this ending invokes more of that existential dread than the original did. The feeling of being alone, yet alive, watching in horror and hopelessness as everything and everyone leaves this life, and you, behind. You start to quickly realize.. that dying would’ve been preferable to this.. The long road ahead to the inevitable end.. with nothing but your beating heart and your ever growing thoughts to accompany you. The feeling of sanity slipping away, until finally, man’s greatest enemy, death itself, finally comes to relive you of this tortured existence.

Whales with baleens are Filter feeders, their throats are actually quite small, so taken that into account, that whale would rather be thrifting through a cloud of cosmic gas and leaving planets alone, the moon would actually be an estimate of how wide its throat would be, perhaps slightly smaller even. Normal whales can't even swallow humans through their throats which are like basket ball sized.
