Your lovely & creative tribute video to the architectural majesty of Moonbase Alpha is such an unexpected pleasure. I’m a huge fans of Space:1999 (especially the magnificent “white gothic” set designs and art direction from season One) and you captured the vibe perfectly. Thank you for giving me a trancey fix whenever I want to glide thru those chic corridors again.

Moonbase Alpha haunts all our dreams. The most fantastic and fully realized televisual location since The Village in The Prisoner. It is a great example of film creating a reality of its own. Intellectually, at some level you know that a few modular set elements were shot, reversed, shot and shot again with subtle differences in dressing and then cleverly edited together to create the illusion of a massive interconnecting space. However,. the illusion is so compelling that it is impossible to resist. I also enjoy the "method" acting style of Barbara Bain and Martin Landau. The former breezes nonchalantly through the automatic doors. She does not stand and wait for them to open. While the actor knows that stage hands stand by to pull the prop panels apart at the key moment the character has complete faith in her computerized and automatic world. That is clever, and that is acting. It all goes some way to explaining why we so readily accept the Alpha environment as real.

Take me home to Alpha! Wow that is marvelous - I use to imagine walking around the interior of Moonbase as I went to sleep as a kid (still do occasionally!). Just wonderful.

Excellent job. If anyone manages to create the entire moonbase, complete with door and travel tube animations, I'd pay money for it in a heartbeat. A LOT of money.

Oh my god... this video is superlative! Very impressive the big planet. It presents some of the key elements of the magnificent TV series in a rapid sequence. Eagle, Nuclear Area Disposal, the Base, the corridors, a massive planet near the Moon... As a deep Space:1999 lover I appreciate very much also the music you used. This music is like a key to open a "new" series. I love the Gray's soundtrack and I don't want to change it... but, in my opinion, the music of this video is good too. Very impressive when the camera enters throught the Main Mission window. The eagle is very well realised... All my compliments for your work... I suppose realized by a real Space:1999 lover... Thank you!

I’m a bit late to the party, only just discovered this & have been watching it again & again with my 8 year old son who was also transfixed! Thank you for an amazing experience, just love the music, blends in so well! Would love to see the way down to the Eagle hangers!

Great job!!! The astounding thing you can only get from a rendering like this is how aesthetically beautiful the first season Alpha set was. Anderson/Penfold really wanted to show an advanced functional space community could look. The second was if Alpha was real it would've been gigantic! It's just too huge for a crew of 311 (that low number always bugged me); some fans have speculated that Alpha was still "under construction" and wasn't going to be fully operational until the year 2000 (series timeline). It was originally suppose to have a rotating crew of 1,100--which included their command crew (Koenig, Russell, Carter, etc). Like StarTrek, it was to be a 5 year tour of duty (science study, multiple deep space probes like Meta, Voyager etc)--if I'm wrong can someone correct me? Either way--you did a great job--except the music! LOL!

Wow this is amazing, I can't imagine how much work it took to get all of that modelled and true to the original show. I've had a go at modelling the Eagle Transporter myself and with the help of Unity, I've even managed to get it into VR. I was going to leave it there but you've inspired me to at least add the landing pad structure. Wish me luck :-)

WOW! Absolutely gorgeous! You even take us all on a tour of the Main Mission tower. But overall I give it a 10/10. The only thing that I don't much like is the music. It's a little bit too loud. To bad you don't use the original music. Darn copyright infringement! Well if I really wanted to I could play it on my phone and watch this on something else, tablet or computer. You even take great care with the view of the Nuclear Waste Disposal Area 2.

i watched this show when i was a kid, i still this it is a totally stupid idea.. but i liked watching it anyway, ... building on the surface of the Moon really, where all the meteors and astroids slam into, yeah few ideas could be dumber.. it should have been underground with just a few buildings on the surface for people to go out and explore on the Moon and launching the Eagles.. they could have build a space ship from all the resources on the Moon and flown back to Earth.. and a nuclear explosion causing the Moon to leave the orbit of Earth, yeah the people who came up with that idea were not to bright were they... they should have gone with the first pilot episode and used a space ship built by Dr Bergman.. that at least was more realistic but as i said, love the show.. always will

stephen crider - Alpha had deflector screens to protect against meteor strikes.
@RX552VBK4 жыл бұрын
Humanity in Space: 1999 was significantly more advance than they "appeared". The base and other faculties, including space crafts, had deflection screens and artificial gravity. Also Alpha was primarily underground (or at least that is how it was suggested) the surface buildings were well armored and used to help facilitate the story better.

My thoughts exactly, however remember that this show was escapist fun plus they had the Bergman force field. Episode 3 Season One "Black Sun".

Awwwww CGI again ? I would be much more impressed if you had made a miniature set and filmed it, like they used to do in the good old days. Also requires a lot less effort and looks 5x better. Thumbs down.
