Elon Musk is not into asteroid mining right now but a PR and Spacex collaboration would be outstanding.

Maybe eventually, but probably not to much in the near term. SpaceX is focusing entirely on launchers in the multi-ton payload range, while PR's spacecraft are tiny, in the 15 kg range. Their natural choice for launchers is going to be small launchers like the Virgin Galactic LauncherOne or the Firefly alpha. Or sharing launches with others, and Orbital has done more work than SpaceX on that front by setting a 30 smallsats on one launch record. Big rockets and the $ per kg abstraction may be sexy, but services such as payload integration and custom orbits actually matter a lot too.

BosonCollider I understand PR is still in surveying mode, but when its time to launch mining hardware, there will be none more economical than SpaceX. I like to imagine SpaceX rockets refueling from PR's orbital asteroid depots in the future!

Steven Jusuf Exactly! Much cheaper to fuel the BFR from an orbital facility than sending up four more rocket launches. more over, the BFR would also be far more capable of returning precious metals to earth for use or sale with it's huge cargo hold area.

I'd love to work for Planetary Resources free! Sounds like a great adventure, like being at Sutter's Mill in 1848 at the start of the Gold Rush.
