SpaceX Just Officially Revealed New Starship Fire Structure, Never Seen It Before!
It's astounding! We've just witnessed an epic moment from the static fire test of Ship 30 at the launch site at Starbase.
However, this could be the last test conducted at this location!
SpaceX has completed the construction of a new testing infrastructure to prepare for future Starship static fire tests.
What is it?
SpaceX Just Officially Revealed New Starship Fire Structure, Never Seen It Before!
How does it work?
And why did SpaceX decide to move the static fire tests away from the launch site?
Let’s find out on today’s episode of Alpha Tech:
Before we delve into the new test stand at Massey, let's congratulate SpaceX on the successful static fire test on May 9th of Ship 30, burning six Raptor engines for 6 seconds.
SpaceX Just Officially Revealed New Starship Fire Structure, Never Seen It Before!
The brilliant golden fire emitted from the Raptors created a spectacular scene, full of power as if the earth itself were opening gates to paradise. This was captured in the video released by SpaceX immediately following the test: "Static fire of Flight 5 Starship’s six Raptor engines."

I'm happy to see it... The first Spaceship Yard. I did a writ a few years ago when Elon first started the Starship project, that we would eventually see Spaceship Yards all over the planet like WW2 ship yards. What we are watching in real time, is the developement of the most important factory in human future history. Someday soon similar Yards in other places, when the Competition realizes they are getting behind in our greatest endeavour. Elon is trail blazing, with simplified engines and fabricated stainless ships. So begins the "Stainless Age" in human progress. Others will soon follow, After the next few launches, reality will become apparent. That it can be done, and done affordably. In fact I expect small time hull builders to pop up, and other engine manufacturers, selling engines on pallets. The Simplifaction and fabrication are key elements in our expansion into Space. Its no longer just a game for National Governments, its guys grouping skills and aquiring investment monies thing. I expect it to eventually be the fastest growing and most lucretive business field ever. And will suck the trades out of other areas... Welders and metal workers have a great future ahead. And we will see the Space version of heating and air conditioning, in life support technologies. Probably would be a good idea for tech schools to start leaning towards Space. Offering courses. Elon ain't gonna stop or be stopped. Are we with him?

Looks like the current static test station at Starbase could cause minor damage to the test vehicle. The one at Massey looks like a better design using a flame trench and a water damping system to mitigate most of it.

Thanks for that great update. It seems like that new development makes sense. Equipment being tested should always be considered less safe than equipment in the main launch area, until that equipment has been tested. NOW... Time for Ancient Chinese Proverb for the channel creators: One must do what must be done, for if one does not do what must be done, then what must be done does not get done.

In comes fanboys that say before, there's no flame trench on Mars or the moons, blah blah blah. They don't need one, blah blah blah. So and so is an armchair engineer, blah blah blah. All horse patoot. 😂 Being different doesn't equal better, no matter who does it. It's good to try and good to make new things. But it's also wise to use proven concepts where they make sense to use them.

Here we go again...another bunch of obsequious sycophantic genuflecting SpaceX /Musk fan boy cultist upset that I dare criticize their dear leader about flame trenches. Let's be clear...when one launches a vehicle that puts out the largest amount of thrust, 16.7 to 20+Million pounds of thrust in history, one is now entering into a whole new launch environment never seen before and one that creates stresses on every system on the vehicle the launch system and infrastructure surrounding it. NASA built flame trench/baffle/deluge systems not because it looked cool or just to spend money. They built that system for good scientific reasons and necessity. Primarily because without that system in place they lost more missiles because of torsional stresses on the missile stock specifically both harmonic vibration and sound reverberating back into the stack. Early on in the program there were lots of losses of launch vehicles due to these stresses. So NASA and the expert scientists knew they had to isolate the missile stack as much from these stresses as possible... hence the flame trench system. And this simple technology works and works well. Musk himself said as much after the first Starship launch and I quote "Aspiring to have no flame diverter in Boca, but this could turn out to be a mistake. " He knows he present system will NOT work long term...especially with all the full power launches he is considering...so he has only one option...move the launches to Cape Kennedy or build a flame trench system at Boca...building one just for testing isn't going to cut it and what's more he knows that as well. I wonder how much he's having to spend rehabbing Stage Zero after each launch? Has to be in the hundreds of thousands to a million after each launch. Another reason for a flame trench system. So before all you fan boy armchair quarterbacks yell at me...take some time and study the history...you might learn something..I doubt you will... but you might. 🙄🥱😴💤💤💤

What it comes down to is total thrust on landing. And that figure is dependent on the total landing weight of the ship. The higher weight means higher the thrust needs to be to make a safe landing. Because of that I don't believe that initially Star Ship should make a naked landing on the moon or mars because of the uneven terrain, the rocks and more specifically the dust of the Moon and Mars are face powder fine which creates a whole new set of problems for any vehicle landing there. One slip up and a tip over of a starship on the moon or Mars that ship is done. So to me a smaller vehicle along with an unmanned cargo ship should land instead. Set up a Landing/Launch Pad and then the land the manned version on an even surface. It may take more time but it would be a much safer option. I don't want us to lose anyone up there as there is no reason to risk the loss of any crew member because we won't spend the money to do it the right way. Star Ship is way to big and to powerful to conduct the naked landing and put a crew in danger. So why not a small lander and a cargo version of the Star Ship. That way if that gets lost no harm done. Food for thought.

My first thought is cost. If you compare what SX has done to any other company, the money they have spent for this technology has to be phenomenal. When NASA wants to build a single launch tower it takes many years and billions of dollars. SX just gets it done. All of this doesn't come free. If SX says they are going to launch a rocket for say one million dollars, what does that mean? All of the cost for design and engineering and site development, etc,. etc, has to be built into every rocket over time. The Starship or one like it has to fly. Not only that, it has to fly often and it has to be utilized in ever way possible. That's the only way they can cover the cost of this investment. Mars can't be the only objective here. Musk is looking at every application. Mars, moon, military, commercial, land to land and land to space station and on and on. The only thing that would surprise me is if he didn't have plans for every thing. NASA may have their own plan to tackle the moon but Musk has to have a plan too and that plan will include the Starship to be used in every way possible. Some stumble with heat shields and launch towers while Musk just says its doable.

You must be ignorant he does pay taxes a lot more than you in $$$ and percentage. I own a small business we all pay taxes people who say we don’t pay taxes. Don’t understand businesses the only way businesses or people don’t pay taxes is by not making money. People do this by putting all the money they “make “ back into the business by paying more people to give people like You jobs or buy buying equipment that makes the business more effective or makes more money so they can hire more people. I wish people could stop being so ignorant!!!
