Booster catch will likely happen with the arms turned to the side, so it's not catching directly above the pad. This in case the arms break, you'd rather drop the booster on the ground rather than on the pad.

In the virtual catch during ift4 the water deluge system did run during the virtual catch, which makes it likely to be caught above the pad.

I have an idea for a methodology for getting fuel and infrastructure to space with starship for building a tank farm. Using three telescoping rod spars that run the full length of the ship, so as to allow for the mid section of the ship to roll out and be deployed at the maximum zenith. using a depth charger like ejection system to propel the canister tanker pod into a higher orbit so as to be captured grasped with a deployed starship drone ship. reintegration of the nose and rear aft power sections of the ship for reentry into the atmosphere and capture on the second pad side of the tower one OEM for take off with one for landing... once captured the ship gets stretched for integration with the next midsection cargo pod waiting for deployment from the midsection cargo pod tube deployment system within the dual pad tower system ... heat shield tiles only needed the returning sections of the ship. more fuel for deployment wondering feasibility and what savings may be gained with implementation and if possible a diagram with the actions of the launch contained within this system. be cool if you could create an animation for this scenario... Elon said the starship will basically land on the water next to the tower then maneuver so as to have the chop sticks grab the ship. tia if you take it upon yourself

In the Booster, it is necessary to improve the flame extinguishing system after turning off 13 engines after landing the Mechazilla, otherwise rapid unscheduled disassembly of the Booster and destored OLM.
@The1QwertySky4 күн бұрын
there is no flame extinguishing system, theres a deluge if thats what you mean and nothing needs to be improved there

Also the OLT is sturdy to handle a RUD on the pad after the booster has returned primarily because little fuel is left in the tanks.

When and if they can get this thing to LEO and beyond with 100 tonne load as musk keeps waffling on about then maybe give it some credence. As it is, it cant reach LEO in a completely stripped out version as the fuel capacity is too low. As for fueling in orbit, the paradigm is sadly lacking although the CGI is pretty impressive. Artemis - 1 , starship - minus 4
@clevergirl44573 күн бұрын
Lol this is some fan made animation why are you complaining here?? Anyways, the test flights are not fully fueled to account for the lack of payload: ofc it can reach LEO, the velocity of the 3rd and 4th flights were literally just a couple 100km/h from 27,000km/h. In a little over a year this program has gone from a tumbling mess of dying engines, to having both vehicles safely splashdown under control.
