SpaceX is racing towards flight 5 as pressure builds on the FAA to pick up the pace. Ship 34 has completed its first stack, but something is different! Musk gives an updated timeline and plan for Mars, is it realistic? and Blue Origin finally static fires New Glenn's upper stage in preparation for its Maiden flight.

I think they should start sending equipment in September. If the FAA don't approve it NOW,then they have a month to ship everything to Europe to launch before the window of opportunity closes. That's the FAA PLAN,To Sabatoge this rare window of opportunity. If nothing else,place as many Artamus Starships in the moon's orbit as possible.

The launch licence process is fine, the problem is the FAA dropped the ball and failed to ramp up their launch licence department in line with needs of the industry. Typical government, always reactive and even then super slow to react.
@livingthejourney8833
@livingthejourney8833 Сағат бұрын
@@schrodingerscat1863 The launch license process is not fine! The FAA insists on using arbitrary reasons for delaying a prototype vehicle as the FAA's director's testimony showed. He claimed that part of the problem was SpaceX's constant changing of technical parameters. Of course, changes will happen on a regular basis as the vehicle is still in the experimental stage. Or, FAA's complaint that the tank farm was placed closer to population centers when in fact it was placed two miles farther. All of these so-called safety concerns sound hollow, but do ring of politics. This particular administration does not like Elon Musk for his stance against government censorship. it's that simple.

I'm curious if the decision to recover the booster parts was made before or after they were told about the FAA 2 month delay. I wonder if it was something they wanted to do but just didn't have enough time to do it, but the delay allowed them to do it. If SpaceX isn't tempted to just say "F it! Send it!" then they aren't passionate about doing what they're doing. If they actually do "Send it!" without FAA approval then they're not smart enough to be doing what they're doing.

One thing that got me about the FAA's response on the Flight 5 license, is how they point out that the license for Flight 4 was good for multiple launches and that it was SpaceX's own fault for wanting to change that causing the delays....and while yes that's true....on the other hand the FAA has known from the start that SpaceX is doing rapid iterative prototyping and the launches are by that nature going to be different. Yet offer no way to license for that. Supposedly the 2 month delay is because any changes that could affect the environment need a 60 day review. They've reviewed this same area something like half a dozen or more times now. How many times do they need to go over the same information and why do they need 60 days to do it? I'm all for safety and protecting the environment but what we're seeing right here is why it's taken over 50 years to get back to the moon. Nothing significant will ever get done while moving at the pace of bureaucracy.

If they do it, when they get to Mars there will be a bunch of people stuck in the surface of Mars, a place where there is no oxigen to breathe... What do you think would happen there if many of these ships manage to arrive and land with people on board? What can you expect but a struggle for survival like never seen before? They would fight each other for the scarce reasorces that arrive from Earth, they would die by accidents individualy and collectively, there would be executions and kill each other and make war with each other, no law of Earth would mean anything, the law of the jungle would prevail.

I guess when billionaires fucked up this planet enough, they think they can destroy other worlds. And all these Elon fanboys will continue to cry about how horribly Space X is being treated. Seeing as they have a 95% monopoly on all NASA launches to the ISS. Never mind that Elon was granted permission to flood the sky with tens of thousands of satellites. Boy they sure hate him.

Is there any word on when ULA will test the SMART Reuse system to recover the BE-4 engines on Vulcan Centaur? I love rocket re-usability, but it might be a lot harder to fully reuse the first stage of rockets with side boosters. BECO on Vulcan Centuar typically occurs at about 5 minutes after launch, while MECO on Falcon 9 is typically at about 2 minutes and 45 seconds after launch. So, a Vulcan Centuar 1st stage will be going a lot faster than a Falcon 9 1st stage at this point, meaning a bigger fuel reserve would be necessary for a re-entry burn and/or more heat shielding will be necessary to survive re-entry. The worst case is SLS, which has the 1st stage go most of the way around the Earth before it re-enters the atmosphere at close to orbital speed.

Seriously, why does blue origin think they can have it all? I salute Bezos for trying, but doing so much in just a single launch is simply unrealistic. He really is the epitome of throwing money at a problem and hoping it sticks. SpaceX has reached it's current point based on actual merit and learning valuable lessons each step of the way. I really do hope BO does reach some stage of competitiveness, but it also posed another risk of a billionaire money fight which doesn't necessarily benefits humanity. It mainly poses a risk of risk based business practices by developing technology at a higher pace and not learning the lesson you need to learn. Space is not only hard, it's also very dangerous.

The best plan Space X can have is to launch Starships on a ONE WAY TRIP to the Moon's Orbit until we get rid of the FAA. No Re-entry's unless their entering into Mars atmosphere.

100 Starships per year is one every four days... it excludes weekends and holidays🤣 Unless the components are pre-manufactured and ready for a phenomenally efficient assembly process there is not a snoballs chance - that that is going to happen.

Same for most other bodies in the solar system. But how do we become an interstellar species and find a new earth before we even become an interplanetary species and explore our own solar system?

im one of the few actually hoping FAA restricts spacex out of..pretty much common sense lmao this whole "get to mars" trend is kinda becoming annoying as it'll never be viable. lets get down to real and doable business already; mining the moon & ocean floor for new/continuous mineral supply to create & sustain new technology that actually helps us humans in our current timeline, like using those minerals on the moon and ocean floor for the production of more impervious armor & new electronics for detection of enemy assets. War is the only viable future for the next 100 years minimum. We need to always be on top over any other nation. Can't do that wasting literal billions a year on some rich, pathological liars wet dreams.

@@Lu.capuchino which info? Everytime SpaceX change the brand of pencils FAA ask for 2 more months. Even the sonic boom (that was approved already). Or the wrong report, with a wrong comma on the value of mercury. That one took more than one month for the FAA to get working. No. It was said before, and I agree. The processes and regulations were made for an era where the launch was set years in advance, and every change on the color of a single nut was decided weeks before. We don't work like this any more. Of course safety must be kept - but we need a complete system overhaul, in order to work with current speeds.

It is like a case of monkey see monkey do. Elon has got everyone making rockets and electric cars. I believe the world is better off now because of it.
