Tysm for the explanations! Turns out that what I thought was romantic attraction was actually a combination of the sensual and the platonic. No wonder romantic relationships never made sense to me. . .

This should be taught in schools. I've been aware of the types of attractions for years now and been aware of what type of attraction I've been experiencing. A lot of the times multiple types of attraction.

I am asexual and alloromantic, but there keep being times when i see people and am somehow attracted to them, despite it not being romantic. I started thinking recently it was aesthetic, which makes sense now that I think about it. considering how much effort I put into my own aesthetics, of course aesthetic attraction would be important to me

Honestly, this was probably the most reassuring video I’ve ever watched. My aesthetic attraction for people made me think that I have sexual attraction, but whenever I ask myself the question of “would I want to be sexually intimate with this person,” the answer is always no. Your explanation of aesthetic attraction really helped me a lot, thank you. 💙

Same! I didn't know until my 30s that aesthetic attraction was even a thing, I always wondered why my idea of what makes a girl "hot" was so different from my friends'. Discovering information about asexuality was a game changer for me.

I appreciate your explanation of sensual attraction. My experience of a combination of aesthetic and sensual attraction can look and feel a lot like sexual attraction which has led others and myself to invalidate my asexuality, but I'm pretty sure people who experience sexual attraction full stop, no doubt are experiencing something quite different than me.

Platonic and sensual attraction can seem like romantic attraction when combined. Sensual attraction is a sneaky one.

I totally get that! I tend to experience aesthetic attraction and sensual attraction together and it has been confusing wrapping my mind around this. For me, I tend to get these two types of attraction at the same time, along with queerplatonic attraction.

This was an amazing video!! I've recently been confused a little in differentiating between if I'm feeling sexual or aesthetic attraction and this really cleared up my confusion! I'm glad to understand I'm feeling aesthetic attraction. Aesthetic attraction for me includes liking the way the shape of someone looks phisically without having any desire to touch or be close to them. But when you mentioned eye and hair color, I was so excited because I feel that way a lot, especially with anime characters. I've never felt a desire to participate in sexual activities with anyone, though of course I later wonder after an interaction if I WAS feeling sexual attraction. But nope, it was aesthetic attraction and I was just mixing them up XD

This is helping me so much on my way to understanding my feelings. I met a guy out of the blue and we ended up cuddling on a bench by a lake. Super romantic! I loved his looks, his voice, his smell, his behavior toward me and our conversation. I loved touching him and knew I would want to kiss him if we met again, but afterwards I realized that never once did I think anything about him that I would qualify as sexual. And I started to question if my liking his looks and touching him meant I actually did feel sexual attraction or if I would or should (!) in the future. But I am now slowly gaining certainty that what I felt was a mix of emotional, intellectual, aesthetic, sensual and platonic/maybe romantic attraction without the sexual. It's nice to finally have some clarity. Cause he was the perfect guy and if it didn't happen with him I really don't think it will. For some, there's no finding the right person and suddenly you're allosexual

Loved the location, filming in nature is so refreshing! 6:10: I guess some polyromantic people experience something similar but in romantic way, i.e group romanticism. Though I am mono-romantic so IDK, just a guess. I was wondering if something like gender envy can be called attraction, cuz it feels a bit like attraction to me. Like you feel attracted to someone's gender(or any other aspect like manners, vibe, intellect etc) but you feel like adopting or mimicking some traits/characteristics of them. Speaking of gender envy, could you make a video on gender envy someday? Anyways, thx for another great video. Happy pride month everyone!

@SpaceyAces Жыл бұрын
Nope, not at all! Dunno if you’re familiar with my channel, but it centres education on Asexuality, aromanticism, queer community, and neurodiversity. Within the asexual and aromantic communities, many people choose to fragment their attraction, and these are some of the labels we’ve settled on. Doesn’t mean everyone will feel them all separately, and the way(s) you’re attracted to someone don’t indicate the type of relationship you will necessarily have. Hope this helps! ❤️
