Just returned to the states after having driven hundreds of miles on Spanish and Portugese highways. The wife and I kept remarking about how much these highways reminded us of the interstates in the western US. Such a wonderful experience.

Beautiful drive. Loved how it started in the clouds only to come out into beautiful sunshine. Definitely a drive I'd like to take. Thank you.

This could be the Spanish version of the I-70 in Colorado. Canyons, tunnels, and into the plains.

A23 Autovia is the Spanish equivalent of I-70 Pennsylvania and Kansas Turnpikes Colorado Section and the 5 fwy Castatic Grade Exits 176-183 due to the switch overpass 2:10. Speed limit wise A23 Autovia is 120 kmh like I-70 in Colorado 120 kmh 75 mph except for selected segements which are 60-105 kmh 40-65 mph speed limits

I have driven this route several times but only northbound. Southbound it looks way more interesting, especially the way down though sun glare is a problem regardless of the time of the day. You really don't notice how steep it is, I think the grade is what allows the high speed limit in the twisty uphill section.

that big 180 degree curve can be driven surprisingly comfortable at higher speed. I thought it was a tight 80 km/h curve, but no.

This is a really interesting route to drive. Is there a reason why they split the lanes in new and old tracks in the past, why they didn't made a tunnel for all four lanes? As ever, you select a fine Soundtrack for this drive too. 👍😀

Great video! This video seems like one from Josan, seing the type of music. The road is great, obviously (it is a very recent pass). Some day I have to go to the Pyrenees area. It's a place that I still haven't got the change to go due to the pandemic however I will go there in the near future (I think). 03:38 Woow...

I drove many times while going to the ski resorts on the pyrenees. When It was a simple two way road, It had a nice set of 180 turns going on the opposite direction, It was fun for me, but probabily not for the poor truck drivers Who were facing overheating engines going uphill, and loosing brakes downhill. It was also a popular road within the motorcycle community too.
