We have same problem here in the USA Southwest. The land is very similiar to this area of Spain. Dry hot, arid, desert like conditions with little annual rain. A typical rainfall of more than a couple inches causes tremendous run off, floods dry rivers, gullies & rapid floods. The hard baked ground cannot absorb sudden or more than usual precipitation. As the area may recieve no more than a few inches per year, anything more than that can be catastrophic. THIS AREA OF SPAIN RECIEVED A YEARS WORTH IN A MATTER OF HOURS!! JUST A TERRIBLE EVENT FOR EVERYONE!! PRAYERS ARE WITH THEM.

@JohnSmall3142 ай бұрын
Do not fall for the 'government is bad' nonsense. That's just an idea put about by the mega rich to get poor people voting for the interests of the mega rich. It depends on the government. Some countries like Spain, Finland, Sweden Norway, Germany, France, Austria and most European countries take a lot in tax, and spend it on making the lives of ordinary people better. Free education, free health services, free fire services, free roads, reasonably priced public transport, even free public transport in Luxembourg. In countries like the USA and UK, which opted to go down the 'government is bad we should have a small state and low taxes for the rich' route, taxes are high for ordinary people but get channelled to the mega rich, not towards making the lives of ordinary people better. It's to do with the theory of 'trickle down economics'. The idea was that if you let the rich get richer then money will trickle down to ordinary people. After 40 years that theory has been disproved. Money doesn't trickle down, it goes from ordinary people into the pockets of the mega rich. But we in the UK still live with the consequences. High prices for education, a crisis in the health service, over priced and poor value for money public transport, councils going bankrupt and what used to be public services are now run for profit by private companies who over charge and provide a worse service. It'll take time to unwind all that small state, low tax nonsense, and put things back on track. The UK could be like Sweden or Norway. The problem is the mega rich who pump out propaganda to make ordinary people vote against their best interests and for the interests of the mega rich.

@@aldastroud9671 "This is all man made" Well climate change is definitely man made. But this actual storm wasn't man made. We don't have the ability to control the weather. I know that a lot of very deluded people in America think that the Democrats and government controls the weather to target Republican voting states, but they're insane and their delusions are fuelled by propaganda paid for by billionaires. But Europeans are more sensible and we have reasonable decent public service media which isn't funded by billionaires and so doesn't push crazy conspiracy theories. Do your own research and start by learning elementary thermodynamics. For example turn on a kettle and let it steam for a bit, or just have a hot shower, notice how the steam condenses on the windows? That's because hot water creates water vapour and that water vapour has to condense somewhere. Same thing with the sea, and especially in the Mediterranean which has been unusually hot the last few years due to excess CO2 in the atmosphere. That makes more water evaporate, which has to come down as rain somewhere. Extra warm air with lots of moisture meets cooler air from the north and you get lots of water condensing out as rain. That's what happened in Spain, lots of warm wet air from the Mediterranean got mixed with cooler air from the north and the water precipitated out as rain. More intense rain due to global warming was predicted over 50 years ago. It's happening now and it's going to get worse.
