DNA doesn't change with borders. People from French Basque country for exemple are not different from those of Spanish Basque country. Same with Spanish Catalonia and the French part of Catalonia. However Southern Spaniards are different of Northern French. There are ethnic differences within Spain and within France. And some French are closer to some Spaniards than they are to other French. And it's the same with Spaniards.

During confinement, there were (and still were last time I crossed at this exact same spot 6 months ago) French police (and sometimes Guardia Civil too) on the bridge. I'm not sure why, since they are CRS (regular police) and not douane (border control for illegal product imports).
