I would love to live in Spain. My family’s heritage is Spanish. But the news of Spaniards attacking foreigners screaming at them to leave or spaying them with “water” that would be infuriating. Is that changing? Because it seems this is one of the major reasons why they are attacking people. Locals can’t afford but foreigners can. Is it safe to buy there? Are there regions where this aggression is not happening? I have met some Spaniards while on vacation and they are extremely racist. Which is a bit funny to me because they are small in height and not blond or blue eye. They could be from any other Latin American country but at least these people I met were horrible.

I understand your concerns but I invite you to, first of all, not to believe everything the media say… it’s true that a small group of manipulated people sprayed water on tourists in Barcelona and that there were a few episodes of locals complaining about foreigners in other main cities, but I can assure you that this does not represent Spain at all. Spaniards are generally very nice and friendly. And Spain lives of tourism. The government is pushing this situation, both with the absurd housing law and the abolition of the golden visa, to deviate the responsibility of what they should be doing with our taxes onto private citizens or blaming foreign investors. And, as usual, a part of the population do not use their brains and follow through without a thought. We see this in everything, especially over the past few years. I don’t know where those people you met were from and what the circumstances were. I am a foreigner, I have been living in Spain for 13 years, my experience has always been very positive and so is the one of many foreigners I’ve met and of all my foreign clients. There are always bad and stupid people everywhere. But the general experience with Spain and the Spaniards is still very good. And you can find confirmation of this by looking at websites about expats and the best countries to live in. Otherwise, let me tell you, I would already be in another country. I’ve changed country, language and culture twice already, I have no problems in doing it again. Thank you for sending this comment.
