Spaulding, you are missed. Your authentic, truth telling voice, that coil of ambivalence and joy, surprise, and anguish? SO. DEARLY. MISSED.

I like Spalding Gray. He didn't put on airs. Too bad he had such a difficult end. Be in peace Spalding. Thank You for what you gave to us here.

In 1979, I bought a book by Spalding Gray. I loved his writing- - not just his talent but the things he chose to focus on., the words he used, and the specifics he chose to.obsess on. And I saw him.in a couple of movies. Years later I saw videos Swimming to Cambodia, Monster in a Box and Gray's Anatomy. I'm s huge fan. I was so sad for him, and his family after his suicide.

Thank u for all this videos. Pure pleasure. Ironically, i never was interested in "cinematography and its production. I guess being born in late 80th played its part. Movies that was made after 2000th will never become classics. Well.. at least in my humble opinion.

Thought the 19 minute runtime would have been him answering the first question.

He's a bit hard to follow. I didn't think he was neurotic until he told me twenty times. I think a lot of highly depressive creatives assume the listening audience knows more than they do. Not knocking the man or his work, just approaching from a new perspective.

My understanding, albeit simple, is that Gray only became depressive following damage to his frontal lobes. His depression, according to Oliver Sacks, likely had a neurological basis. He struggled a great deal during the years leading up to his death and contemplated suicide frequently. His depression, "black sun" rose every day. This interview is before Gray's accident.
