That's fair, and I completely understand where you're coming from. But dangerous things are often quite beautiful, to the point that it's scary sometimes. In this case, I'm looking at it from a purely architectural standpoint, and I've just always personally found battleships to be breathtaking in that way. Maybe 'breathtaking' is the word I should've used. Whatever the case, I'm in awe of them.

the flower on the bow is a chrysanthemum it is significant to the Imperial Japanese Navy as it was the crest of the Emperor, Yamato's sisters the Musashi and Shinano (Shinano was converted to an aircraft carrier) also had these chrysanthemums they were around 2 metres in diameter, all three of the Yamato class were sunk the Yamato and Musashi by US aircraft (Musashi 1944 and Yamato 1945 Yamato had her port and starboard triple barrel 6 inch secondary guns removed and replaced with more AA guns these triple 6 inch guns were the same as the ones mounted behind the 3 3 barrelled 18.1 inch main armament) and the Shinano by a US submarine, both the Yamato's and Musashi's chrysanthemums are still visible on their wrecks Yamato's is in better condition still showing the distinctive flower where Musashi's has degraded and not a lot of the flower is identifiable, I not sure about Shinano's. The Yamato's were the largest BB's built for Japan but not as long as the 887 foot 3 inch American BB's of the Iowa class that had 9 16 inch guns in 3 triple turrets they were built in WW2 (USS Iowa BB-61, USS New Jersey BB-62 USS Missouri BB-63, USS Wisconsin BB-64 and the last two never completed USS Illinois BB-65 and USS Kentucky BB-66, BB's 65 and 66 were broken up in the late 1950's with BB's 61-64 were decommissioned and recommissioned several times in their live spans were finally retired in the early 1990's and now BB's 61-64 are preserved as museum ships. The last BB built was HMS Vanguard of the Royal Navy completed in 1946 and commissioned after WW2, she never fired a shot in anger, although her guns were assembled from a mix of other BB's and BC's her guns were 15 inch she had 8 of them in 4 double barrel turrets. at 10:48 the object on the side of the guns were indeed part of the targeting apparatus they were range finders there was also range finders else where on the ship such as on top of the bridge. Sorry I got carried away with the info and put more than I though I would.

Glad you're enjoying it buddy, sorry if it seems a little fast. The recording session was 45 mins. I cut out some of the trivia from the crew. It's a super well made experience, I cant say for sure it works without VR but I was able to play the game outside of VR with an Xbox controller. It still booted SteamVR but worked like a normal game.

Pacing seems perfect man dont worry about it :) I got the demo to work ages ago without VR but it was so short I didn't know of it was worth £30 but now im thinking about getting it. A livestream sounds like good idea, i bet there'll be a few people in chat that know a thing or two about Yamato.

The Yamato being the largest battleship built also had the largest guns ever put on a ship at 18 inches. The gold "flower" at her bow is the IJN insignia. The only ships then and now are aircraft carriers such as the Midway and Gerald R Ford. Her smaller secondaries (behind the second and third turret) are also one of the largest secondaries ever mounted on a ship. The one used in the game is actually the sister ship of the Yamato the Musashi. The difference between the two is the Yamato has more AA guns while the 15.5mm secondaries on the port and starboard were mounted on the Musashi (a row of AA guns were mounted on the Yamato). Large bar on top of the main tower is the radar array for the main guns. As the three main turrets would move so would the radar. This was knocked out by a plane hitting it when she was attacked also knocking out the turrets. Her final operation was called "Operation Ten-Go". She was on a suicide mission to attack the Americans at Okinawa. On her way, she was attacked and sunk by US torpedo bombers. She was escorted by two heavy cruisers and 8 destroyers. Extra facts :She had the largest flag ever put on a battleship :She was one if not the widest battleship ever built due to limitations of the Panama Canal :She was planed to have a third and fourth sister but her third was made into an aircraft carrier and the fourth was never built :The slope towards her bow was done so they could make the second turret's barrels flat to fire ahead

Actually the ship in game is the Yamato prior to the AA re-fit. Both Yamato and Musashi had initially lateral 155mm guns that was later replaced by an array of 127mm and 25mm guns (Although Musashi received less secondary mounts due to shortages)

I NEED to see those guns firing! I always loved the Yamato (I even made a model) and It will be the first time I see it's interior 😍. Just for curiosity, the "flower" at the front of the ship is the Imperial Seal of Japan, and it was used on Japan's greatest ships. The one from the Yamato was the biggest (2m/6.6ft diameter).

Amongst one of my favorite videos you've done so far and I cannot wait to see more of this series!!....how passionate you are when it comes to the Titanic, White Star Line, Olympic, Etc is the same enthusiasm as I have with this type of subject matter, naval ships and just military history in general..... where I grew up there is a battleship moored ( USS Alabama BB-60)that I would go aboard every weekend always just being enamored by it so this video brought me back to my childhood.....people tend to not care about history which is such a mistake so I love the fact that you are not only interested in it yourself but you use your platform to bring it to others....keep up the good work

I really hope you will be able to inside the gun turrets and the magazin storage. Yamato and her sister Musashi were quite awesome ships even bigger than Iowa or Vanguard but they had nothing against American Aircrafts especially almost alone.
