Cheers mate , I like a 6-7 foot rod , solid in the base but A bit softer in the tip, I think they call it medium action .. the softer tip gives the bait a bit of action while going up an down the swell an helps take the shock of a big hit .. the reel I like 8500-9500 penn spin fisher or something similar, you can retrieve the slack line much better with a spinning reel when they run at you , also handy when solo fishing you can retrieve your other bait much faster to clear the deck to fight the fish ..
