Hello Jez. I hope you are feeling better. By and large, Filipinos do not speak Spanish anymore. That skill died with our grandparents who spoke it regularly during their time. However, you will not have any trouble communicating in English virtually everywhere you go in the country. There are many Spanish words many of the major dialects in the Philippines That is why I think Filipinos do a pretty good job with Spanish pronunciations (plus it is also a subject/class being taught in college, if I’m not mistaken). The closest to Spanish that is still in the Philippines is in the south. It’s called Chavacano/Chabacano. It is a Spanish-based creole language that some areas in southern Philippines still speak. there is a place here in the philipines like Zamboanga city that they use to speak spanish language and a filipino language also like tagalog there are some words that has matches or similar meaning to spanish laguage like for example a word (puede) anyway filipino people has a different mix of races that's why we are not strange to any other laguage from all over the world.. hahahaha maybe in the near future we can also learn the language spoken in Mars.

The only latin city in the Philippines is Zamboanga City which is found in the southern part & it's Zamboanga City.70-80 percent of it's residents speaks chavacano which is 70- 80 percent spanish.

Our country The Philippines was a colony of Spain for more than 300 years that is why some of our local words are spanish. Spain brought Christianity here.. In the south portion of the country Zamboanga, people speak in spanish not tagalog.

Philippines was colonized by Spain & we were under Spanish rule for more or less 350 yrs. Our National language before was Spanish. Most Pilipino words were derived fr. Spanish. We also count in Spanish. Gracias.
