The perspective of the guy at 9:30 was really sad to hear. Not seeing the value in multiculturalism and being bilingual, at all. Really sad how people’s kids lose one language rather than simply gaining a bilingual life instead, thanks to this unnecessary pressure. The woman right after who added her teacher’s remarks, that the teacher was so in favor of monolingualism ONLY…she really got lied to damn. There are other options for how to live. The kids are not simply “refusing to speak Spanish at home”. Teachers in the schools are telling the. lies like “you’re in America now, so you HAVE TO give up the other language!” The same lie that waves of European immigrants got told, so for example, Eastern Euro older generations were bilingual but the past few are not. Really depressing how mono-culture, mono-lingual life is pressured on everyone to just conform rather than having a multicultural, multi-lingual environment.

"Learn a little bit of spanish and you can get along with them" says the guy. How about they learn english so they fit in instead of trying to bring their countries here in which they fled from? I am Mestizo/Hispanic.
