That was a funny story. I notice it is the third video where one of the characters has not survived (1) the child who fed his food to a cat which became so strong that it killed and ate him (2) two old friends, one rejoiced when his wife perished in a house fire (3) this story about the leg of lamb. Your stories are great fun to watch and learn!

What a horribly tragic, but funny story...I loved it! I understood everything except what Alberto told Maria to set her off. He only said that he would give her money and make sure she and the baby were ok. He never said that he would leave her correct? Did she just infer the rest and assumed that he was going to leave??

OK, I just played the video again with English subtitles. I guess we were all supposed to make that small leap, but I just didn't pick that up the first time...or the second time. It did force me to listen very carefully to the story and you narrating makes that very easy.

Nobody yet mentioned that this is a short story by Roald Dahl, possibly my favorite author.

Perfect for a beginner like me and your presentation skills are excellent. muchas gracias. I thought the wife would have been caught by the police. I noticed two new words in this video which are; "marido" (I thought the word should be "esposo") "contarte" (I thought the word should be "decirte")
@SpanishwithAlma4 жыл бұрын
Both 'esposo' and 'marido' are correct, but in Spain we tend to use the latter. 'Contar' is a verb that we use when we are referring to a story: Contar una historia/Contar un cuento. We would never say 'decir una historia', that sounds wrong. That's why context is so important in language learning. Good job for noticing!

Ésta historia me da miedo :( No podría hacer lo mismo , aunque me he gustado María . Es un lección para todos los hombres . Hay que pensar antes que decir algo a una mujer que está embarazada:) sigo subiendo a escalera de gramática española y el vocabulario . ¡ Muchas gracias, Alma ! 💐💐💐

I have just seen your channel and the videos are great. I'm a teacher and these are useful for class. I have a couple of suggestions though. Could you provide some key words translated in the description or maybe right at the start of the video so students watching it on their own will see these. I also really liked it when you showed the picture of the pregnant lady for está embarazada. I think it would be useful if you wrote Está embarazada too so they can see the words too. Keep it up as these videos are great!
@SpanishwithAlma4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment and your suggestions; I'm very happy you find my videos useful. Most of my videos include Spanish subtitles and a link to the free transcript, but I didn't have time to include that this time (auto-generated captions are pretty accurate anyway). The point of the drawings and the photos is to make the story comprehensible without the need for translations. Students should be able to understand most of the words and follow the story even if they haven't seen certain words before. I use this type of storytelling even with complete beginners who have absolutely no knowledge of Spanish and they are able to understand just from my drawings and gestures. I recommend you give this approach a go and you'll be surprised at how much students can guess just from the context of the story! :)
@AD-bs6kw4 жыл бұрын
@@SpanishwithAlma I agree that students will be able to understand a lot of this without the vocab. What I meant is for retention of vocab where they can use it themselves later on to have ‘está emabarazada’ come up on the screen too might help with building up the students’ vocab as well as the comprehension skills they’re getting from the stories :-)
