My nephew died at 17yo from malignant melanoma (he had a small mole on his neck & he always wore protective clothing/swimwear when outside). I don't think make-up, wigs, tanning, fake eye lashes, click in tooth covers, etc can improve on a natural child. Going to stop my rant now. 😊 Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤

This show is over a decade old. Eden Wood is 20 years old, still lovely and doesn’t regret the pageants. She says it gave her confidence, taught her responsibility and made her fearless to stand up for herself. She and her mother are still very close.

You go into this innocently and it becomes vicious because of others there. Like the dog show world. If you really dive deep into it.. the snakes come out for attack. Self esteem coach, wonderful support. Never give up, just start at the base, skip no steps and go again. No rush. As long as it takes. We live in a free choice country. Just because some don’t like this, doesn’t warrant criticism for a different life experience.

Their confidence is “boosted” by pageants? Fake lashes, hair, tans. Sparkly, slinky outfits. Dance moves on par with 20 yr old pop stars. When do they learn to feel beautiful being natural? Or is this the beginning of a lifelong obsession with being center stage?

Lisa Ling the only talent to come out of The View. Love that you focus on American issues in a refreshing way. The fact that these mothers open the door and shove their daughters into body dysmorphia is sad and sick. Stop making looks the one thing your daughters focus on.
