Fully charge it BEFORE the first use. Always charge things completely before you use them for the first time!

I believe that one is a Ni-MH battery. Unfortunately Streamlight uses a proprietary cell. Also, they didn't put protection circuitry in it if it requires a cap.

Yup. Not as powerful as a lithium-ion battery. But the chemistry is safer in comparison.

Question - is this safe to keep the spare battery in the charger at all times? Especially in a vehicle. I know the flashlight itself is ok to always leave in the charger as it’s designed for that … but the instructions only mention cold weather ( under 10 degrees F) but my concern was this spare battery on the piggyback charger exposed to heat in the summer time. Is it safe to leave in the charger as well even when fully charged and your vehicle is parked on a 80+’degree sunny day? Again the instructions say nothing about hear hazard with the spare battery

The batteries are Nickel based (not Lithium) so I believe they have a more flexible temperature range. batteryguy dot com says up to 113º F (45º C).

What does the blinking red light indicate?

Charging. Not what I would chosen. I would have solid red for charging and green for charged, but no one asked me. :)

Solid red means charging. When it blinks red, the battery is charged up.

would like an update bud, im scared to keep my left charging. Im assuming it only will overcharge and degrade the battery. what do you think?

We have these at my side job and they are always on the charger, all day everyday even one in both our squad cars and they have been like that for at least 4 years and they are still holding a charge and working fine. Hope that helps!

Is the Stinger DS LED HL or Strion DS HL best to get to use as a Security Guard?

Both are good choices. Get the Strion if you prefer a more compact light. Personally I prefer the Streamlight Stinger Classic LED (the one rated for 500 lumens).

Yes, you can buy spare batteries for any Streamlight flashlight.
