Russell's voice is still just as soaring and flexible as his younger years. It's glorious.

Best singer by far. I really adore him. His older brother ain't bad too.

You can’t do anything but love these guys. So talented and modest. How many “world’s best” bands have come and gone and the mightiest Sparks are still making great songs

One of my favourite memories of my dad was sitting together watching Top Of The Pops and howling with laughter at Ron Mael's expressions as he played the keyboard. Sparks are one of the most interesting and criminally neglected outfits....... still going strong after half a century

Mike, exactly the same here. The old man and me would laugh. It was he that made me watch him 👌❤️

An 8 year old me shouted “ Dad, come quick! Hitler is playing piano on top of the pops” the first time I saw them

Pretty song, and so intended for me. Greatest, yet most underrated band ever. If they were British, they would be as big as the stones and the who etc. Their longevity and brilliance should be celebrated.
@scriptorium774 жыл бұрын
Funny fact, I thought for such a long time, they were British 🙃

Edith Piaf has never been more famous. Stravinsky, Mrs Lincoln, the Macbeth's, even string theory, the Sparks discovery channel? love you guys. keep up the good work

Hello from France . All the talents gathered: melody, phrasing of his voice, humanity, originality of the style of the 2 brothers. What a joy to hear that they will be at the Cannes Festival 2021 with a french musical film, and that a documentary about them will be programmed in cinemas at the end of July 2021 ! Nothing is ever too late ! bravo, bravissimo !

Merci KZbin.

Such consummate and talented musicians / songwriters. I've been a fan since 1975 and always will be. Bravo, Ron and Russell. p.s. at first I thought that this was a 'tiny Desk' concert but I see it's separated into more than one video. Sparks need to be on Tiny Desk!

... and let alone the marvellous 2020 album. Outstanding. The new hit "lawnmover". Sparks are the most creative band ever. Accompanied me during my teen years. Now I am 59...and their music is still extraterrestrial. They should get a nobel prize and endless stardom!!

@@morningcoffeecat2271 It seems like he, through his life, has aged 3/4 of a year per year instead of the 12 months as most of us do...
@johnwalsh1285 жыл бұрын
Agree 100% queen, the Bee gees and the beach boys had each other for the harmonies. Russell can sing all their combined ranges and more on his own.
@annabackman30285 жыл бұрын
@@johnwalsh128, and his range has just extended by the years, his voice has deepened at the same time as he still can reach almost as high as in the seventies. I'm not really sure he can take on his own 'Pineapple' in original key nowadays, but the man is to be 71 in October (2019), he is outstanding!!! (IF anyone hasn't heard 'Pineapple' yet, do that. And try to reach that note on the word "need"!! It's not for an average person, not even a woman.)

Sparks-I have not re visited them since I was 16 with 'This Town ain't big enough for the both of us', struck a very deep chord back then. And now this.....pure magic. Boy's keep doing this to your last breath, utterly fantastic.

They will. The day they can't make music anymore, they'll die. Please, God, Chuck Berry* or someone, never let them be not able to make music 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 (I'm not sure about the grammar here 😂, but I think you'll understand. Feel free to correct me, I don't mind learning! 😃) *On the anniversary edition of' No. 1 In Heaven' Russell described how they met Moroder and how things came together, and joked about Chuck Berry as a potential God 😄😄🤩🥰
