YES I LOVE COLDPLAY this is one of my favs
@sirriffsalot41582 жыл бұрын
It annoys me to bits how few of these Coldplay-tutorials actually bother to check that the tuning is 100% right. Chris often plays around with funky tunings, especially when strumming these kinds of songs. In this case, the e-string (first string) is lowered all the way down to the same pitch as the B-string. As soon as you do that, your strumming suddenly stops sounding wonky when compared to the original. Enjoy!

Thank you bro

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I was wondering why my e string just sounded so out of place when i tried playing this song, and so i came down to the comments to see if anyone else was having the same problem, so thank you again!!!
@sirriffsalot41582 жыл бұрын
@@girabbe. You bet, glad I could be of help. If you're trying more fancy songs, like "'Til Kingdom Come", don't even bother trying to learn from the lessons you find on KZbin etc. The tuning is so unusual you literally can't play it in a standard tuning and have it sound even remotely the same. Some tabs get it right, but very few. The best I can recommend, with guitarists who are playing wonky tunings, is to actually find videos of them playing the songs live, looking at their hands closely, and working out the tuning from there -- it's not as hard as it sounds. This is what I always do now when I know something is slightly (or totally) off, and in the case of 'Til Kingdom Come for example, it's definitely worth it. Enjoy and peace out!
@notclaud52232 жыл бұрын
How can you change the tunning with apps? I’m new and kinda scared of breaking strings..lol
@sirriffsalot41582 жыл бұрын
Then your ears need to do the job. Just tune the e-string down until it rings the same as the string next to it. Good luck! :-)

I love the way you have presented this lesson… Am I crazy, or is the B string tuned up to D (3 semi-tones) in the original recording? I am hearing a consistent G# in there…it’s especially clear in the intro. This changes the Em to Em7, D6/9/11 to Em9, etc…, but I think it’s there.

Also, I think the ‘I know I was wrong, I won’t let you down" chords are not quite correct. If you listen to the album when he says "I won’t let you down." The is a missing phrasing that is similar to when you play a C chord and then bring your finger up the the 1st fret of the G string, similar to Barenaked Ladies, it’s all been done prechorus, if that makes sense. To do this, instead of playing the same thing the second time, at 7& 5, play 6 & 4, OR you can do the same chord at 3-2-1 on the E, A and D strings. You can hear it if you listen closely. There’s a chord change there, that was missing. Hope we can help each other. Thanks!

This is such a great song. Clever, unique, well executed by the band. So many little things they do in it to raise it a level on all instruments. And I can't picture another singer coming close bringing the vibe Chris brought on it. Perfection. It's a shame they could never write something near as brilliant these days (for a long time now actually). Fortune and fame really ruined their creativity and vibe
@royshavrick2 жыл бұрын
I honestly disagree, there's a lot of songs like these in their recent albums it's just that they don't take off. I think a good example is everyday life.
@ikigai472 жыл бұрын
@@royshavrick - Sure, not everyone will agree with my opinion, and that's okay. 'Everyday Life' Chris sounds great on it as usual but for me, as a long time songwriter, it's nowhere near as creative and unique as Sparks. It's very standard issue pop song in construction and performance in my view, nothing that will make serious songwriters marvel at its construction. Though again I do think Chris nailed the vocal on it, however that said, I don't think he's the ONLY guy that could have sang that song, that well.
