Brian alway had me hit shots to different flags with the same club...to build feel and confidence...and also not to get stuck over the ball....he would say 50 on the left and 75 down the middle etc...and I would always be amazed how close I could hit it when I didn't think to much.....but like all of us I creep back to old habits... I'm playing tomorrow for the first time in a few weeks and will try this technique you have shown👍

How do you play different ball flights (same distance) with the same wedges?

That’s more advanced but fundamentally is controlled by the loft angle at impact increase loft = higher shot and fuller swing for the same distance as less loft = lower flight and smaller swing. I’d suggest higher handicap players merely control this by changing clubs but lower handicap players can manipulate the loft angle by experimentation and practice.

Hopefully Philips reply has answered your question. It is a great idea to experiment playing these different shots when you practice. Moving the ball forward and back in the stance, closing and opening the face at impact etc. 👍

When I try to swing slow like this I end up shanking the ball! Why?

I don’t recommend trying to swing “slow” as this often leads to increased tension and the problem you are describing. Instead it is better to concentrate on relaxing more.
