Hey. In another of your videos you spoke about the aircon and the it draws a lot of power on startup and that a later model has a soft start aircon. Our van which is similar to yours has a slightly different aircon, how can I find/see where that info is as it will be helpful in deciding what kva generator we purchase. TIA Col.

Thanks for the look around your van. We've got a Coromal 445 (2001) that is fitted with the "offroad" pack as they called it then. 6" chassis with aluminium frame, huge wheels (single axle). Recently installed a 12v fan in the pop top (Fantastic fan) and works well. Hope your travels continue to go well and keep up the good work on the "reports" you present. Stay safe.

Think about a pair of clips on poptop roof at the back. Then a cheap tarp to the ground. It gets the sun off the back and the window can be opened
@Sparkysontheloose5 жыл бұрын
If it gets really hot we put a tarp up where the fridge is and that covers a window as well. It doesn't get that hot to do it often though.

Great videos, thanks guys. Nice to see a more realistic set-up than those with limitless budgets. Quick questions. 1. Air/Con? Worth it, if on a big trip? 2. Cooking. Do you cook outside more when it's hot? BBQ or open fire? Outside gas outlet? Thanks heaps, happy travels.
@Sparkysontheloose5 жыл бұрын
Cheers Ryan. Air con is a must if you have the option to get it, especially up north. We use a portable fire pit for cooking outside but mainly cook indoors. It's only a drama when you're cooking something smokey or smelly. An outside bbq would make things a lot easier rather then fire.

Interested to understand the axle setup and the suspension.... I have a Jayco Heritage and they say OK to tow on dirt roads. Granted slow on corrugations but no sand . Thanks.

Hi Sparkys? How do you go with dust generally with the van, did you block off the open vents on for fridge etc. Love the honest and realistic approach and style. Russ

Cheers Russ. Dust is always a problem and we have just learnt to deal with it. The pressure Shute on top is great and we masking tape the vents on long dusty roads.

Thanks for sharing, it has done very well considering where you have dragged it, quick question what pressure do you run on dirt roads in general ?

It really has Kym, we run 28cold on normal dirt roads. If the road is real bad we will drop 22cold. Thats caravan tyre pressures.

Hey, I was searching info regarding this van and found your awesome videos. We are doing a trip just like yours in a couple of years with the kids. I’ve seen some of these vans in full height - do you reckon it would be possible? Considering I’ve got a troopy with a tinny on top for height restriction anyway. Or any other advice. Thank you
@Sparkysontheloose5 жыл бұрын
G'day Darren! Yes they do come full height, im not sure about having the tapered rear end or not. Something you will have to find online, the model is Pioneer Corvair XC.
@ourhecticlife27965 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry I wasn’t very clear in the first msg. I’m just wondering if the full height would have restricted much access to where you went. Eg over hanging trees, tight camp spots.
@GanGoz5 жыл бұрын
Just wondering if you have had the van over the weigh bridge, we have the same Van and found that coromals scales arent real accurate, the van is heavier than complianced, as a result we have a few issues keeping it within weight limits at times, and are not carrying as much gear as you guys.
@Sparkysontheloose5 жыл бұрын
G'day Gangoz, we have put it on 3 weigh bridges across Aus and everytime it's been bang on. Had no issues.
@GanGoz5 жыл бұрын
Thanks @@Sparkysontheloose . While you are answering silly questions - Do you find your springs are pretty rattly/noisey on that suspension, mine does a bit of clanging and banging on uneven country, dealer reckons it is normal for that set up?
@Sparkysontheloose5 жыл бұрын
These aren't silly questions goz. As for our setup we don't hear them at all really. I can't see it being an issue regardless. Im guessing if you put rubber in between the leafs then that would stop the noise.

Do you use the bikes enough to warrant carting them around with you?
@Sparkysontheloose5 жыл бұрын
I would not bring them again. Perhaps fold up scooters or something that can be stored under the bed.
@lukep96015 жыл бұрын
Sparky's on the loose is that because of the dust? Or lack of use? I have a fammia bike rack on the back and we’re thinking we will take them on our big trip but keen to hear your thoughts
@Sparkysontheloose5 жыл бұрын
If you can get a cover to wrap the whole bike then it should be fine. The dust had gotten into the gears and bearings. The salty air rusted all the cables and chains, both bikes had the same damage.

I select videos for their title. Five minutes into the video the only thing you have talked about that is specific to the trailer is the shower. In addition you say this video will only be about the exterior. How can you answer the question (title) and not discuss the interior?
@Sparkysontheloose5 жыл бұрын
We have already done an interior video. In our opinion the inside of a the van doesn't reflect the reasons why we chose the caravan for off road reason. When you're looking for an off road van the main things you should be looking for are discussed in this video. We believe the title reflects the video.
