I'm a beginner bird watcher. Recognizing bird song is really hard for me. Proud to recognize this song in my garden this morning, went inside to check song sparrow videos and found your beauty. I posted it just now on an FB group, O Songbirds, I 'host'. Thank you.

I just wanted to say thank you for these videos of morning song! I saved the life of a small sparrow this morning via my cats mouth >.> In the beginning I didn't think he was going to make it. He was listless and almost seemed as if his legs were broken (looking back now, he was in a severe state of shock!). I placed him in small fish tank, in a shoe box filled with tissue, then spent the next few hours reading on what would be best to do. Most recommendations were to keep him in a cool dark place and see if he could pull through and then release when the time came. I placed several towels around the tank to darken it, leaving small gap to view from. I could see his little heart beating away, I am sure these new surroundings were terrifying, I felt like I needed to do something that would let him feel like he was in his own home. that is when I found these videos you have here!!! And no word of a lie, within minutes of putting these songs on for him, he became very active and the shock he was in seemed to wear off quickly! He began to bounce about the tank, attempting to flutter away! I have since released him, it was a joy to see him fly away! I am very positive the audio in these videos inspired him to continue to live!!! Thank you!!!!!

You did the right thing, the key word is DARK place (not totally dark but mostly dark) because birds' brains are so oriented to the visual sense that their brains mostly shut down in darkness, and that helps them recover from shock.

That was a very smart idea you had. And it probably saved the bird's life!

And cat will continue hunting... Do you have any other solution? Many birds get terrible injuries from cat bites... And song birds are already on decline.

In the USA these are call Song Sparrows. I'm not sure what they'd be called elsewhere.

Given the $12,000 (USD) price tag, I'd say it's a pro optic. It has blazingly fast AF when mounted on a 7D. With the "Sigma" name on it, some people don't think it could possibly be that good. But this one is. Probably one of the very best lenses Sigma ever made. Shop well and you can find these used at much more affordable prices.

Hi. I'm an amateur wildlife videographer, and I'm making a movie that compares the variations in Song Sparrow songs in different regions of the country. I have plenty of examples of them singing in the Midwest, but obviously I'll need to borrow footage from other parts of the continent. Would you be interested in letting me use a few seconds of this clip. I don't know what part of the country you live in, but this little fella's song is different from what I hear in St. Louis, and your camera work is gorgeous--close, crisp, well-lit and steady! I would, of course, credit you. Here's hoping I hear from you. Jo Alwood

If the $8k is a bit steep, these seem to trade for between $3k and $4.5k on eBay.

Are you sure this is a Sparrow? I've seen Finches that look just like this.
@ChristopherPerezPhotographer8 жыл бұрын
+minxella12 - I'm quite sure it's a Song Sparrow. We had plenty of finches of various varieties, too. None of them looked like this nor sang this way, either. The whole area used to be filled with Song Sparrows. Their songs were great to wake up to in the morning.
