Such a beautiful voice, like Robin, but very unique. I loved the note you nailed... the last note! I wanted to learn that song too at one point so I know it well enough. Maybe with as much practice as this must have taken you I will have God-given success. Discipline leads to interior virtue that we can offer up for love of our mercifully loving and good Lord.

That's so true. I used to have such a high soprano that I even sang in a high whistle voice. Now I sing bass. I wish I could keep my high and also have bass. That'd be awesome.

When I was young and thought I was a tenor (I'm actually a deep bass) I sang a number of things in front of an audience which I shouldn't have. I wish somebody had told me not to. But no one did. This young man has all the notes for this piece, but it is delivered in an unremitting, often shrill forte, which is not how it is supposed to be done. There is also a rather flat note towards the end, at 2:45. This young man has a very nice voice, which might be used to good effect in a number of other pieces without forcing instead of performing this in this way. With the right voice teacher, he might have a mellow tone for this and a proportioned delivery with spots that were below forte, but he clearly did not have such. If you look at the older man sitting in the back with the red tie on, he does not look happy or impressed. There are boy sopranos who sing this aria, but all that I have heard have trouble with the one lower register part of it (probably a lot of female sopranos do, too). However, many acquit themselves much better than this young man does here, with a rounded tone and a shaded interpretation. When adults allow this kind of thing, it doesn't speak toward the proper guidance of the young. I hope he's singing more easily as an adult.

Give the kid a break! He's only 13, ferpetesake! There are many adult sopranos with years of training who would never dare even attempt this aria.

It was reasonable, but quite a few of the notes in the first 15 seconds (when I turned off), were not quite on the note. Perhaps listen to Clint Van Der Linde singing this piece. Or Aksel Rykkvin singing Allelujah. This is as close to perfect as you will ever get. Both are available on KZbin.
@bahoonies4 жыл бұрын
@David Edwards You found it 'reasonable' but not reasonable enough to hold your attention for more than 15 seconds? What a pity you didn't listen to the end. That was your loss. There are various reasons singers might not be exactly on the note from understandable performance nerves to diaphragm control to a boy treble's tendency to sing slightly sharp if not watched for. Yes Clint and Aksel had glorious voices and wonderful technique. I have never heard any singer whether adult or child sing the Cold Song by Henry Purcell as well as Aksel. But this boy does not deserve to be dismissed like that. He is a very fine treble who pinged off the top C in the vocally challenging the Queen of the Night aria perfectly and I would love to hear more of him.
