"Spartacus" (1960) and "Rawhide" shot in the Conejo Valley, Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Amazing to see how a small hilltop camp was built on the top of the Spartacus Draw plateau located near Cal Lutheran University. Pay attention to all of the horses racing up and by the camera, and all the structures built for this big-budget Kirk Douglas classic. Site was also used for "Rawhide" in season 6 episode 23's "Incident at Hourglass". And of course, note the sea of neighborhoods now occupying the lower valley!
