I Used to weigh 526 pounds. I used to think I could never do a spartan. I used to think I could never walk a mile. I used to use the electric carts in the grocery stores because I couldn’t walk that far without my back hurting. I wanted to do something I thought was impossible. So I picked Spartan. And of course I wanted to get fit first. I wanted to be fit and lean and ready to do a Spartan race when it would be easy for me. I got with a personal trainer who has done TONS of Spartan races. We train 3 times a week and I do long distance walking on Sunday. I’ve lost 64 pounds BECAUSE I signed up for Arrington, Virginia in October 2021. Today I just did a 5K in 43 degree weather. It took me 2 hours. It was hell. But I was able to walk the whole thing and only stopped to sit down a few times. For my first Spartan race I might not be able to hold myself up for the monkey bars. I might miss the hay bale with the spear. I might have to crawl to cross the finish line but For me it’s about finishing. See you in October.
