A collier was a support fueling vessel back when the main fuel of the fleet was coal. It basically followed the fleet carrying several hundred tons of coal to refuel any of the combat vessels that needed it.

I played these quite a bit yesterday. I found starting your torpedo runs at 4-5 km was the most successful for me. Dive bombing was a pain in the A$$ but did best going straight toward the bow of the ship I was attacking and waiting til the absolute last second to release bombs. Thanks for the videos Spartan!

Fun fact both Langley and Hosho are the worlds first aircraft carriers I think Langley was made from a reinforced cargo ship and i think Hosho is made from an old heavy Cruiser (could be wrong)

I think, if the map sizes are increased, and they work something out for destroyers, then carriers will be fine. If they end up being too op then just boost the AA rating on ships. Makes sense to me

I feel that carriers are not that broken like we thought, I just spot destroyers and I let the cruisers to kill the destroyers because I CANNOT dive bomb or torpedo bomb a destroyer to safe my life.

I think you got the hang out of the torpedo bombers pretty fast but you triggered me just a bit by refusing to switch to the dive bombers at the end ;). If you die you can control the planes which you currently control so with the full squadron at the end you would have had a higher chance to kill the Yahagi even if he killed you before. :)

I was worried there. It’s good to know that if I charge in with a faster BB like scharnhorst that I should be able to quickly eliminate a carrier if need be. I think that’s fair that they can’t take virtually any damage since they can cheapshot from far out. Plus now I know that when I see planes in my DD it’s time to pour on the coal and run him down

It's pretty satisfying to shoot down an entire squadron before they can get their torps or bombs off (normally in cruisers or tier 4 battleships - Iron Duke)

Good game spartan. Try to alternate between planes more so they have time to reload. Helpful tip, the langley does more damage with its HE bombers and the hosho does more torpedo damage. Its a pain doing the divebombing but you get more damage potential. I just dont recommend going after destroyers with bombs. Too fast

I played a couple carrier matches, once you get the hang of how to hit with the HE bombs and the torps its pretty cool, but 2 ships stay near each other and their anti aircraft guns tear those planes. apart

My initial thoughts for CV's can't be truly said because I only have experience with T3. I need to play both tiers to give my full feedback but imo. Langley's torps need a slight buff. Torping is a lot easier than bombing. Imo, the bombing reticle is way too sensitive. I do like the huge learning curve they gave CV's so not everybody can hop in one and keeping bombing like some damn IED. Also 'shitadel' fits perfectly as I citadeled Langley's through the front.

My first game in the carrier mode I was in the Giulio Cesare and got 140k for also my first game of the day and I managed to dodge torpedos all the way to the back of the map where I citadeled the every living crap out of their Langley🤣

The carriers aren't that bad it was just the first time playing it was like really hard to do because I had no idea how to attack, but I'm hoping they do add higher tier carriers for the tier 7 chips so they can experience the carriers and I also want to see how strong their anti-aircraft fire is

Considering it took me several matches to figure out that your torpedo bombers would get really low so you could line up your drops...I believe you did really good. Game play seems a bit slow. But obviously a skilled player can influence the game quite a bit especially in places where you may not have any ships.

2:30 is that Hit points of the Squad or Hit points of each plane. Cuz 2,018 HP per plane is absolutely nuts. just as a reference the t10 IJN CV in PC her TB have a hp pool of 1,957 per plane. I think WG needs to make that more clear. also theres not way to tell the HP of your squad in battle, and weather the planes are almost dead or not. as a CC i woulda advise you to bring these up to WG.

In my experience dive bombers are a bit trickier to use than torpedo planes.

When you were going after the last cruiser I was shocked you didn’t just use a dive bomber. Something I noticed between the two carriers is that the American one is great at dive bombing. While the Japanese is better at torpedo bombing.

From my personal experience in the PC version I would recommend to focus more on the dive bombers at least for the Americans as their torpedos are not great their strength is that he bomb

Ngl first 15 or so games was maxed at 12k damage but I got the hang of it eventually. Seems like u wanna use the dive bombers to light up bigger BBs CAs and CLs as the bomb dispersion is wack. If you can get good with the torps you can put a hurting on DDs and CLs

I have played both CVS it seems like the Japanese one is good for torpedoes and the American one is good for dive bombers. But it does seem like the Japanese CV is a little stronger in my opinion.

@@doomguy.23frommars60 While the carriers suck, which I do agrew with, they still have the ability to spot EVERY single destroyer and automatically give the red team the advantage as long as their carrier commander isnt a moron, which seemed to always have been on my team bc they wouldnt start spotting until half way through but only as the planes flew to bomb the enemy carrier.

I spotted him about the same time he started to attack me and I still had 90% of my hp and he still manages to burn me down and he survived with well over 30 hits from me

The planes get shot down way to much. The aiming Mechanism needs work. The damage the planes do is too small it takes forever to build up damage totals alot of work without much reward. The time for each game is too little to make much difference. All the lost time back n forth because the plane speed is way to slow. The carriers need some defense! The guns are to puny. So far it's fun but needs lots of work.

Why did people want the carriers so bad? They look very boring to. Play and the ships anti aircraft weapons are beastly. Plus they have you flying bi-planes, hopefully they have the dauntless and the other planes used during WWII. that in itself would be cool if they resembled the IRL plane.

Yeah the carriers are not that great. They put them in the back where you got the chase them down. Planes are annoying. Torps are slow.. eh.. they should have left this out.
