Deep gratitude to you Mukesh. Hope you keep doing many such conversations. Just a sidebar thought.. Would have been interesting to have Neelkanth discuss on bio-mimicking Scorpion model of intelligence (research) building within India.

We have indeed come a long way in semiconductor but one thing we are missing out on is to create the domestic consumption of the manufactured products. This can only be done by promoting startups that are developing new chips/products and leveraging the strengths of our talent.

I think a big elephant that this discussion doesn't address is why would private companies take risk with R&D investments if they can park excess funds in banks at our high interest rates to make easy money.

Because you don't want to be the incumbent dinosaur when the asteroid arrives and with the rate technology has been evolving ever so rapidly you'd rather be a Nikon than a Kodak

If you are parking your money in FD it will not be considered a positive sign for investors I believe. Cause investors want growth in topline and so on net profit. This income which is there will not be considered as a positive sign.

In India , JRF (first 2 years) researches get ₹ 37,000 per month and SRF researchers (next 3 years) get ₹ 42,000 per month. An employee in lowest Pay Level of 7th CPC in Level 1 will join at around ₹ 35,000 (group D staff). So financially researchers are like Group D people.

Podcast with Neelkanth Mishra quite interesting and more practical. As I am the contributor of many idea of India to PM Modi like National Innovation Council, District wise Toolrooms to introduce new tools, company interaction. National skill development, decolonising history, governance, judiciary, laws. Media and entertainment, Education and Healthcare etc. Most worried in this govt is non seriousness in addressing corruption. fixing policy paralysis, indecision. Slow and corrupt heavily biased judiciary controlled by jihadis and colonial forces, lack of courage in taking decision in dismissing WB. Delhi and other problem state. Next big area need major tax reform instead of present tax extortion. Ease of doing business, ease of justice, ease of travelling, ease of health, Healthcare, safety and security still a distant dream.
