I've heard there are two main reasons. Most well-known is you're not as knowledgeable as an attorney. But the more subtle one is you are emotionally invested in your own case and you can't take the 3rd person "watching from the side" approach your lawyer can. With that being said, I've seen a couple on Reddit write that when they had a civil lawsuit, they gathered as much info as they could and did some of an attorney's work before hiring an attorney. First it saved them money and second it made the attorney's job easier. Plus even if the couple made some mistakes in their preliminary work, the attorney would likely see and correct it.

Eh not really. The argument was not over the right to a trial. It was over the right to a SPEEDY trial. That right is waved all the time because of how backed up courts get. The lawyer was basically just standing there and saying that he won't wait. It seemed more like the lawyer felt like his time was being wasted more than anything else. I don't think anyone else in the courtroom appreciated that attorney either considering they all clapped when the judge came back after winning the fight The judge was obviously in the wrong too, especially because he continued the hearing after the fight without the defense attorney.

He was able to get back in just fine but was pissy about being closed behind him even though it wasn't locked. He also laughed at the officers and told them to call backup because he said he would fight them and they would need more people to make it fair. They managed to get five officers on scene, and they took him down once he started raising his fist like he was gonna start trying to punch people. No one was injured, but he kept stiffening his limbs on purpose so they couldn't cuff him or pick him up. And we knew it was on purpose because he didn't mention any medical conditions that would cause that in the body cam footage or while he was defending himself in court

About the ticket: tickets with multiple charges often get thrown out when one charge is false because it illegitimizes the entire tickets. That's why cops that want one of the charges to stick will issue you multiple citations instead of combining them on one ticket. Also, clean record means that there's nothing on your record to that point or is within the time frame that can be considered by the court in relation to the violation.

So a little background on the whole Sovereign Citizen concept: Although some change the application or justification, most "SovTards" believe they don't have to follow US laws and jurisdictions, because instead, the "Articles of Confederacy" do. So now when these SovTards get arrested, they try to argue some of the following statements, as apparently granted by the Laws of Confederacy (or some abstract derivative from it): 1. You are a "free man" of the land, and so you are allowed to "travel" without being stopped by people (in this case, the police or the government). 2. As a free man, you cannot be held liable if you do not have a name (somehow). So that's why you'll see SovTards say bonkers stuff like "My name is NOT Dumb Assington...the name Dumb Assington does not exist, and although others have been known to call me by the concept of Dumb Assington...I am nor have ever been the PERSON known as Dumb Assington." 3. You do not have to remain complacent in police or government seizes of your persons (whatever your name is), and it is illegal for them to stop you. One final thing to mention here is SovTards believe if you do not give your name, or acknowledge your identity in whatever way (ex. stating your name in court, or giving any license to a cop), then by even the US definition of the law, you cannot be prosecuted for a crime. I (think) this is based off of some weird legal basis where someone can't be prosecuted if they either aren't aware they're being prosecuted (as in, they can convince others that they're unaware of what's happening to them), or that they can't be convicted of a crime, because there's no identity to own the charges going forth. I honestly don't know, because this is legalese we're talking about here, but I do know most cases heavily rely on the fact that you're acknowledging that you're some specific person, and you're conscious/aware of what's going on during the trial. Someone should correct me on this. But as you see, this leads to a person who: 1. Believes the law not only doesn't apply to them, but CAN'T apply to them, because due to the Articles of Confederacy, it's illegitimate in the first place. 2. Due to their refusal to acknowledge they are a specific person, they can't be charged with crimes (even if the entity commonly referred to as THEM does it). So pretty much, a SovTard pretends they're not a person, toothlessly reprimands a legal system they believe doesn't apply to them, and pragmatically, hopes the legal system doesn't understand the legal system (or doesn't want to deal with it all) enough to bother prosecuting them at all, and just lets them go. Here's the thing: Although I do not know the legal precedence, I'm pretty sure the US courts have officially addressed the whole Sovereign Citizen question, and ruled "If some retard claims to be a Sovereign Citizen, you can still prosecute them for a crime they've committed. Even if they do not own up to a name, as long as reliable evidence is convincing enough to pin THIS person to crimes they committed, then you can apply the US law on to them and force them to endure the justice system."
