That has to be one of the sexiest tones to come out from a fretless bass. Awesome playing as usual, too.

I appreciate you taking the time to clear up this supposedly impossible conundrum,I detract my previous statement and will honor you with a badge, making you a part of the Recently Resurrected Honest Zombie Patrol Squad Team Force. RRHZPSTF for short.

Not sure why I would waste my own time and the time of the band (studio+deadline=money) by taping everything twice. Fretless parts are obviously just thought out beforehand and placed thusly. I don't learn the songs up front before I start recording, so like anyone else, I just want to get it over with as soon as possible.

You should record more of your songs with your fretless bass, is so fucking awesome

Why do people keep thinking it`s defretted? It`s a standard Warwick Thumb 6 NT with lines.

This is pretty sick. I am going fretless and I think I'll try to learn this next.

As was my impression of it years ago, and it just comes to show you haven`t made a proper effort in finding something you like. Saying you don`t like electronic music is like saying you don`t like i.e rock. The span within electronic music surpasses metal and is so big you literally have no clue where to begin. Venetian Snares is the Frank Zappa of electronic music and goes through so many different genres seamlessly that I`ve never even heard a metal come near it in terms of creativity.

It's a damn shame you are not in the band anymore. Why did you departed ? Otherwise... it would still be awesome to see you play some Blood Red Throne material... You have recorded some of my favorite bass lines and tracks with Blood Red Throne. It would be a shame to let these masterpieces disappear...
@ErlendCaspersen12 жыл бұрын
That`s physically impossible since there`s no microphone, just a direct signal from my bass with an added MP3 track.

@ErlendCaspersen12 жыл бұрын
As I just said , that is physically impossible. If that was true, there would be a ton of really weird albums out there, if Nuendo/Cubase etc. picked up on Windows`s messaging sounds. It`s a direct signal from my DI box, into Nuendo, any sound from Windows will not be able to affect it, obviously.

Are you playing this with 2 fingers picking or 3? It looks like 2, but this is monstrously fast for 2 fingers. Just curious. Amazing playing.
@ErlendCaspersen8 жыл бұрын
I continuously switch between 2-3-4 fingers depending on how demanding the speed and string skipping for certain parts may be. This song is almost exclusively two fingers, though.

what makes you decide to do some things with fretless vs fretted? More about the sound produced, or do you find some things are more playable on one or the other? Also, what do you do live for songs that have fretless and fretted parts?
@ErlendCaspersen8 жыл бұрын
+thinkpad20 The better question is rather why would you want one single sound for the entirety of the song\album? We don't really play live, and if we did I'd just use a fretted bass for everything. It's not like anyone would notice.
@chinox19968 жыл бұрын
why dont you play live shows?
@ErlendCaspersen8 жыл бұрын
Cause we are scattered between three different countries and don't have an album to support anymore. Going on tour is financially speaking something that doesn't make up for time taken off work, so it's not something we'll do unless we're guaranteed being able to pay our bills.
@dustinverdone12358 жыл бұрын
Awesome playing and love the warwick. Do you have flats or rounds on that bass?
@dustinverdone12358 жыл бұрын
nevermind saw your comment on The Evangelist playthrough video that you play rounds :)
@ErlendCaspersen8 жыл бұрын
Correct. Never tried flats at all. Never bothered learning anything about strings up until this last year, so I never went out of my way to try different stuff. Not totally sure, but I assume the ones used here are Elixir .135.

I've been looking to buy a 6-string Warwick soon. How does the size of the neck compare to something like a 6-string ibanez or ESP? I realize Ibanez necks are probably a lot thinner, but how much would one notice the transition?
@ErlendCaspersen9 жыл бұрын
+Dan Saillant I've never played any six strings from either of those brands, so I wouldn't know. Chart on their site explains it in more detail - www.warwick.de/en/Warwick---Products--Instruments--Customshop---Masterbuilt--Basic-Bass-Models--Thumb--Thumb-NT--Thumb-NT-6-String--Thumb-NT--6-String--Features.html

I have a Warwick Thumb 6BO, and the neck is thin, not like an Ibanez but it doesn't feel like a chunky baseball bat, it's comfy, buy a Warwick if you can ;) "No regrets"
