Phytoplankton and zooplankton sampling | Pacific scientific cruises tuna ecosystems

#PacificFisheries | To understand the offshore pelagic ecosystem that accounts for 50% of the world's tuna catch, we are observing the western and central Pacific Ocean from physics to living organisms.
At the base of the ocean's food web is the phytoplankton, microalgae that are eaten by zooplankton, which are very small animals. This is the foundation of the entire foodweb of animals, including micronekton, which feed the tuna.
🤝This cruise, in the framework of the MICROPAC project, is conducted with the financial support of the French ministry of Armed Forces (Direction des territoires, de l’immobilier et de l’environnement), the French ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (Pacific Fund), the French oceanographic fleet, SPC and its funding agencies and IRD.
