I replaced all my combo amps with Eminence two years ago. A Governor, Texas Heat and a Patriot. Their sensitivity is amazing....

I actually didn't notice any significant volume difference between the WGS and Eminence speakers. Only the low end is tighter and I have a tad bit more high end with the WGS, so I think they sit better in a mix. I tried a Eminence Legend GB (Sensitivity: 101.3 dB) vs my Jensen Mod 12/50 (Sensitivity: 94.3 dB) and even there was only a slight difference in volume. Sensitivity makes only sense if you compare the speaeker of one brand as manufacturers tend to measure them differently. Biggest difference between the Jensen and the Eminence GB was that it sounded so bad I thought I got a bad one. Sounded like a speaker with a very hard 5k low pass filter, absolutley no high end at all.

Same here, will never ever go back to Celestions : Swamp Thang , Texas Heat, Governor and Legend EM12L got me covered for any styles and they sound soooo much better , better precision, tighter, no ear piercing highs that I always had to tame one way or another with all Celestions I had (V30, Greenback, 30TH anniversary, Creamback H75, M65, the only Celestion I liked was their "Black Shadow", Mesa Boogie's speakers).

Eminence Governor is the best out of these speakers in my opinion. But overall I like CV-75 better for its balanced, full and detailed sound.

@@dattoboy1 Just recorded both and they are kind of similar, Veteran 30 sounds more agressive in the mids and has more detailed high end. You can watch it when I finished my new speaker comparison. I also included an Emincen Tonker, Celestion Vintage 30, WGS Reaper HP, Fane F70, Hesu Demon and an Electro Harmonix speaker. ;)

Eminence Governor sounds pretty good to me in general. Those harsh frequencies on the Reaper could be great for very specific use. but for a general use it's the Governor. Veteran 30 sounded horrible on most mixes. What volume was this at? Sounds cranked!

Thx, I cranked the amp up to around 7/10. The strange thing is I like the Vet30 the best. I got it because of the thighter bass response and more aggressive mids. I changed the Governor out for the Vet30 as it seems to have a more detailed sound with more dynamics.

I prefer the Vet30 as it has more aggressive mids, tighter low end and in my experience sits better in a dense mix. I sold the Governer after getting the Vet30.

Have you tried a Reaper HP next to ET65 they seem to have similar numbers on the chart. I'm interested in trying the HP in my 2x12 that has the 65 and a Vet 30 in it, I'm running a Royal Atlantic head want to switch them up see if there's any better sound combination than I have already.

Sorry, I never heard a ET65 live. But as ar as I know it is more on the "warmer" side and a Reaper HP has more brilliance in the high end with ery robust and tight low end. Most of the time the ET65 is recommenden if your amp is too bright. I really dig the Vet30/Reaper HP mix, sounds very and even to me.

@@rk28984 So the ET65 is known as being good to tame bright amps and just a good all round speaker. The Reaper Hp is like the 65's more dialed, punchier, clearer big brother gives it some bounce and cut for sure. Mixed with the Vet30 to add some mids it's great way better than the ET65/Vet30.

The reaper sound good for fuzzy tones maybe combined whit the green bereft or the invader would be better than V30, for Hi gain defenetly V30 and the governor is interesting too

Agree. Emi has many to choose from. Blends with 12" complement each other very well. But, your ears know what you like...

I also built a 2x12 myself, no cab will sound sweeter than your own cab when you play it for the first time! good idea, but I can only do a comparison with the IRs I made of the speakers. I have tried out way more Jensen and WGS speakers since that video. And so far the best two speakers to my ears were the Jensen Raptor and Jensen Electric Lightning.

@@rk28984 I still think that mod50 is the best single option, or paired with the governor. I'm typically a bass player, but when I pick up a 6 string i play southern rock and blues with my beat up Gretsch. Currently rebuilding an 79 twin 135, and building an amp of my own design.

@@aaronatwood9298 For Southern Rock and Blues I can also recomment a Jensen Raptor (great overall sounding speaker), Eminence Tonker (balanced, with bigger low end and sweet very smooth high end), Fane F70 (classic British sound with lot's of details) or maybe a Weber Tonekvlt Gray Wolf 100 (it's like a fatter, more refined version of a Governor). If you want a really dark/warm sounding speaker go for a Jensen Falcon!

@@rk28984 The El84 build I'm doing has a Falcon 10 and a BB40 10. The Twin 135 is another question. Partially due to its power very "country clean sound". The factory speakers fart out horrifically.

​@@bishlap My advice is to get a Reaper, it's the best overall speaker I got and very balanced. If you want more agressive midrange get the Vet30. If you like your speaker to be smoother get the Governor. Vet30 and the Reaper also have a tighter low end, the Governor can sound a bit mushy. The Reaper has the most high end sparkle of the bunch.
