Hey, I had the same problem. Just take the car to you nearest Audi Dealer. They will fix it. It has to do with the resonance frequency of the lid. The plastic starts vibrating ones the speaker puts out a certain frequency. Unfortunately this problem does not only apply to the center speaker in the dashboard but also to others. It depends on the frequency. Anyway, basically what the dealer will do is to apply felt tape to seal the lid off. This will help a lot!!! Trust me. It basically reduces the vibration coming through to the cover lid from the speaker. It also cushions the lid, reducing the vibration by a lot!!! Hope that helps!!

Same issue for my car! (A4 Avant 2019).... when I press the center speaker cover it feels a bit loose. It is the first brand new car I've owned, so I won't even bother to try and lift the lid and risk breaking some clips. I will take it back and see what they say.... thanks for posting! I am glad I am not only one with this annoyance. BTW - my previous B&O in my 2014 RS5, was actually higher quality I think... sounded better.

Hi Tom, I am finding the B&O sounds horrible on the exact same car you owned. My previous A3 only had Audi sound system and it sounded much better than the B&O!! How are you finding them now after visiting Audi? What have they done for you to fix the issues and what sound settings are you on? Thanks.

I had this same problem. It’s an easy fix if you want to just do it yourself if you’re into that kind of thing I guess. Just carefully pop that cover off and what I did was use foam weather stripping and put a few small strips here and there so it slightly pushes up against the cover once it’s snapped back into place. It’s totally unnoticeable and it’ll fix that rattling. Now I have a rattling coming from the passenger door and from the back seat! Ugh! It never ends.

The rattlings from the door is related to the speakers too? Can you test gusgus over please? On mine the bass beats creates annoying vibrations (the beats from the start of the song).. how is on your system?

I tried this a couple years ago and was still noticing vibrating from the center of the speaker casing grill… seems it’s a resonance frequency issue.

I’ve got a b9 Black Edition with B and O package coming in March. I’ve had a bose before in a a6 and it did what you show here. They wanted to replace the entire digital wiring loom. Chairs and carpets out etc. Luckily it wasn’t my personal car

Same, on specific frequency. Eg if you play gusgus over the beat will make the speakers cry.. Have you solved the problem?

Audi couldn't find the rattling told me to come back for a software update but after self investigation i found its the plastic cover on the speaker of the parcel shelve. I have a 2018 s5 b9 coupe . I dont want to have a software update because im fine with the sound i dont want to mess that up . Any tips on how to make the rattling go away ? Put something between the plastic like a soft material ?

I have the same problem and after watching this video, I just played around with the cover and I could get rid of the rattling sound, but overall I am not impressed with Bang & Olufsen. The sound is not crispy and clear by any means. Now, I am pretty much using it for podcast and news :(

The track has a bit of a buzz on its mastering. I can pick it up in my studio, barely. The B & O center speaker might be rattling some of the other components in the dashboard with maybe a lack of isolation. Similar to a subwoofer rattling a license plate or the truck in a modified sound system in a car. I'd perform a sub-bass test, and play at the same volume the whole frequency range from 10Hz-20000Hz. See where it vibrates, and it may even show what speaker(s) are the issue.

I have a brand new Audi Q3 bought from dealership. B&O sound system and I have the same issue. Been in three times for repair and issue still stands. Hoping it is fixed soon.

Sold my 2014 A5 last week.. now I have a 2018 A5 sport back. I can tell the B&O system is noticeably worse than the older model. Very disappointed considering the car cost over €70k new.

Initially wasn't impressed by B&o, but played a bit with the sound settings and it sounds much better. 3d sound to medium, surround half, bass half and 1, treble half and 1, focus all, fader position centered

paralelmind yes, I have very similar settings at present. The Subwoofer can take a bit more volume, bass needs to be kept low to avoid door card rattling. Regardless of equaliser settings, the B8 A5 B&O sound system was far superior

paralelmind I’m comparing it to my previous 2015 b&o sound system. My friend bought a BMW M4 and it leaves my b9 A5 sound system sounding like a VW Polo

@@ahoyskid 😂. Funny how things spin around. I am remembering the days when bmw had such crap and Audi got good ones. Regarding b&o.. the sound system quality may be related to acquisition of b&o by Harman kardon? B&o used to be de facto in auto industry :(

The same problem with me, just vibrating the back area where the subwoofer is. I've been to Audi and have already changed my B & O box, and now I'm following the center front speaker that gave up. Unfortunately these B & O speakers are getting pretty fast.

The vibration from the front speaker is actually the plastic bit on the top of the dash which sometimes the clips break and it starts to move the plastic bit when something is playing

@@R4hmans no it's not. It's the speaker because mine have literally just been replaced also the ones in the rear doors up by the handles

Yes it does make a difference the b&o sound system is a lot better, sound quality and bass it’s 100 times better, I have used both the speaker when I had the other car with Normal speaker and the normal speaker wasn’t as good, I would say b&o is the best choice to go with. That’s with my experience

I also own a B9 Audi A4 premium plus with B&O sound system and I have insane vibration in the front dash speaker the door speakers and the back subwoofer, very disappointed how audi use such cheap plastic with such a nice sound system that got ruined.

Omg I at first disliked this video because I thought this wasn’t it. I center dash speaker was rattling in it’s container. Well tonight I turned the navigation voice down to zero and was able finally listen to Beyoncé’s partition with no rattle! THANK YOU! Btw you likely don’t need to talk so much. It's not the speaker, it's the shit music you're playing on it. Stop using badly ripped, compressed, low quality music formats like mp3. That's the distortion in music. People are playing low quality music files and can obviously hear the faults in the sound because the speaker system is revealing enough, in most other cars you can't hear that.

derbigpr500 I use Apple Music so I don’t need to download anything, and it wasn’t the speaker problem after I found out, it was the speaker cover which was making the noise, because of its frequency, plus the Clips was broken so that didn’t help.

On the Audi A4 B9, the B & O speaker quality is very low. Even if it sounds very good, after a period of listening to high volume, it succumbs.
