she's good in her method, every word is clearly explained and pronounced.... good job mam! one thing that is confusing in the word "university" i think there's 4 vowel sounds, because here U is vowel letter not a vowel sound! correct me. thanks
@asmakhalid46898 жыл бұрын
it is 5 actually. If you pronounce the word you will that the letter 'U' is making a vowel sound as well. (1) u- (2)ni-(3)ver-(4)si-(5)ty
@suchilablss13938 жыл бұрын
note that..'Y' is sometime considered as vowels ok.try to understand this particular mistake.that's why 'University' has 5 syllables because of 'y'..
@lardhii7 жыл бұрын
Asma Khalid I think if "u" in "university" was a vowel sound, then we would have used the indefinite article with "university" since any words beginning with a vowel sound must have an indefinite article.
@lardhii7 жыл бұрын
Barchia Suchiang if so, then we would have had to put an indefinite article "an" before any words beginning with "Y" since all words initialising with a vowel letter must have been modified by an indefinite article if needed.
@pdpaxpv7 жыл бұрын
You are right. The 'U' in 'University' is a consonant sound, however there are exceptions to the rule. The consonant 'U' in the beginning of a word is counted as a separate syllable. If you don't count it, it's as if the first part of the word doesn't even exist, hence your count would fail to give you an accurate idea of the length of the word. U.Ni.Ver.Si.Ty --> Ni-Ver-Si-Ty However, 'U' in the middle of a word can be a vowel. For instance, the word 'Mule' has one syllable, because 'Mule' is pronounced 'Meeyool,' where the 'ee' sound is the vowel. Here 'U' is not just 'yoo,' but 'eeyoo'. Same with 'Puke'. Another example is 'Pull' which is pronounced 'Pool', but that's entirely different because it doesn't have the 'yoo' sound.

A syllable may look like the OREO. You see, the OREOs are always in the form of this: 1-Biscuit(consonant sound)-cream(Vowel sound)- Biscuit(consonant sound): tea-pot/ti-ger 2-Biscuit(consonant sound)-cream(Vowel sound):de-crea-se 3-cream(Vowel sound):E-mma But a consonant sound can never make up of a syllable, because it's just a piece of normal buscuit, not specifically refering to the OREO.

This came in handy because when I "learnt" about syllables, my teacher described them as the beats of words, which didn't make sense to me, it's English not music? What the hell is the beat of a word? So this helped me because I was basically the only kid in the class who didn't know what syllables were because I didn't know what the beat of a word was or means.
@chocobun48796 жыл бұрын
My teachers never taught me this before.They just put us in front of a computer and the computer asked us how many syllabes are in this word.We never learned syllables.
