KAITI this is literally so relatable . . . for a good part of my childhood, my grandma and grandpa took care of me while my parents worked so Spanish was my native language, along with English when I spoke to my parents. After going into school, though, I lost a lot of my Spanish fluency and I can still understand, read, and write it but I always have trouble speaking it and am always thinking about what I'm going to say next. . . . this was SO relatable and it motivates me to get some of my fluency back too

I have the same laugh 😅 my friends make fun of me for it all the time. Also, as a trilingual-ish (Russian, Spanish and obvi English) with actually-trilingual parents I feel your pain. I speak Russian pretty well at home with them, but I suck at writing and reading it. My Spanish needs some work, it's probably on the same level as your Korean. At the same time I also mix languages a lot so it's complicated. I really enjoyed watching this though (your mom is hilarious) and I'd love more of these videos.

Oh my goodness I feel so SEEN. I grew up speaking Setswana with my mom and aunt, but when I went to school I went to a predominantly white school where it was against the rules to speak any language other than English (something about children feeling excluded or something). I also got bullied for my accent so I almost completely stopped speaking my native tongue and developed trauma around it because when I attempted to speak it later on I'd get teased by other tswana speakers. Now that I'm 20 I try to speak more tswana and sepedi every day BRUH IT'S HARD
