Very helpful video! Paddling instruction and balance drills and a bonus wave riding piece. Really informative-thank you! I will say, however, that the advice to keep the hand on the horizon helps to keep it high, but in reality the hand drops across the horizon a bit. Still, it’s an important visual reference. So awesome to have Sean Rice as a coach on the water! I’m going through this learning process so very helpful to watch!

Thanks. There's a part 2 as well, though it's less of a lesson and more of a runs catching session in a group with Sean. The beauty of this first 1 on1 lesson was that he really tailored it around me and my deficiencies at the time (5 years ago). The top hand dipping diagonally was one of them (although it's very common). Actually the balance bit wasn't a drill but a test of my balance. Sean tried to see why my ski rolls so much during a forward stroke and whether it's due to my imbalance. I think he said it isn't, so I passed the test, and the boat rolling thing is still a feature of my style.. And yes, if you're a novice ski paddler I do recommend to try and get a 1 on 1 lesson with an elite paddler\coach. And, what's more important, start with the basics (forward stroke) and don't spare yourself during the lesson. It'll be hard on the cardio (we mortals can't match world champions in that regard), but you'll learn more

The only way to take lessons. However, there's a price to pay. And I don't mean financial. The abyss gazes back
