I’m LIVING for all these marketing videos I’ve been watching. I’m a current biology pre-med freshman whose realizing I don’t want to go into medicine and that science is really just a hobby for me, not a passion. Marketing was the second major I was always interested in after I took it in high school and I’m SO EXCITED to make the switch. I know it’ll be hard switching to a totally different field, but I know I can do it and I feel like my future can be really bright. Just speaking this into existence !💕

I was premed up until my junior year when I realized the same thing, then I switched to English (no marketing or business degree offered at my school) and I have had a successful 2 years post college working in marketing. It’s totally doable, I definitely think doing as many marketing internships as you can in undergrad makes all of the difference. Good luck :)

I am very happy to see your comment. I think we are on the same path cuz i am a molecular biology student and i am realizing that i dont want to be in this field in the future but unfortunetly in my country i need to take an exam (to switch my career path ) which is kinda hard and i have to study for it for 2 years maybe? it is a long way but i hope we can achieve this !!! and congrats to you too about realizing your passion earlier (i am not a native so sorry if i made any mistakes :( )

I would need to take so many more Chemistry classes AND 2 Physics classes at some point. I don’t mind pushing myself, but I don’t think I would even be remotely interested. High school science is SO different. In terms of your situation, I am *positive* that you will be able to achieve your goal as well! Hi! How do you like it so far? I'm currently an 18 year old freshman in college and am majoring in pre-health nursing but so far I'm realizing this may not be for me; however, I think social media and marketing might be something I'd like. If you don't mind could you tell me what it's like? How hard schooling is? etc.?
@jacquelynamcc4 жыл бұрын
Adding to the question above, how hard was it to find a job? I'm going into marketing this fall and it sounds like alot of fun but I'm worried about the career outlook
@Nicole-kh3fg4 жыл бұрын
@@natalietucker4364 I honestly love it. I got my bachelors in business, minor in marketing. I switched my major to business because I thought there was more job opportunities. I grew up with social media, I’m on it all the time, I have a passion for it. I like that I’m able to work remotely due to making graphics to social media. You could always do freelancing social media on the side too, it pays really well! School wasn’t that hard, hardest part was accounting classes that you have to take(I hate accounting) but other than that, it was average! If social media is something you’re interested in, I’d definitely go for it, especially if you’re questioning your major. So many opportunities but about 1 in 3 students choose major, so lots of competition. I think you’d like it! I create graphics, talk to consumers online with DMs, scheduling posts for the month, and also do some marketing like analytics with it. It’s a lot of fun and something that I’m interested in. I think you should give it a try!

Knowing that I am not that blessed in terms of understanding the accounting subject, I thought of majorin in marketing instead. However, I also don't feel confident about taking this program because I do not like selling stuff, I am a total introvert, and a total lone worker who do not prefer working in groups. But there is this pinch of love I have in the small details I think I know about marketing that makes me curious about it and makes me wanna try. What do you recommend targeting as a one person marketing department
@fanofanything71894 жыл бұрын
I am currently at the path of my life where I have to decide what to do after school. I am extremely interested in design but as well in marketing. The most important aspect I want to have in my later job would be creativity and I am not quite sure if marketing management really is very creative. I also asked some people and they told me that the really creative part of campaigns for brands are done by designers in agencies whereas the marketers concentrate on the numbers and business part. What is your experience with that? Would love to hear from you until then wish you all the best!
@angelzheng4 жыл бұрын
I agree and disagree! Yes, I handle a lot of the partnerships, business development, planning, strategy part of my job, but because I work for a smaller team, I actually handle all the design + execution as well. From my experience, the design part is always fun but as a designer you usually work under the direction of the creative director or marketing director. With that being said, a huge part of my "creativity" comes from the actually planning and strategizing how certain campaigns will run, what results you're hoping it will bring, as well as the execution portion. Long story short, I think you will find that even though some of the marketing side of things include business and planning and numbers, that it ends up being a new way you'll learn to be creative!

So are you also a web developer? What is a list of tools you use in your role? Do you have any interaction with clients or just other employees? What marketing skills would one need to know/develop for a positions such as this? Where can we learn and further develop these skills? Thank you so much, great video!
