You've pretty much solidified my original idea of wanting to go spear dagger after watching this, definitely going to be excited trying this weapon combo out for myself. With 2 piece Harvester and lightning infusion from the dagger skill line I can see this becoming brutal.

If the tank goes for Endurance, it's like you won't get cri 90% of the time. The spear damage is gone. DMR takes into account, too. Also, if you don't have GS hit chance passive, you won't get through the Evasion build for sure.

@@Armkaiser you can use sns's roar endurance removal . and it has alot of dots and as a tank myself dots destroy you. my friends were playing around with builds and you can hit like 2k+ hit chance with spear. gl evading its hits. they had like 2600 something hit chance with spear/gs and around 2k without gs

The COOLEST thing about spear is not being rooted to the floor EVERY FUCKING MELEE ABILTY please for the love of god make ss/gs/dagger be able to move while using skills

This would be nice, it's one of the things that makes melee feel extremely clunky in pvp. I mostly main staff/dag, but yeah even with a few of the dagger skills this is an issue. If they made all melee function being able to move while using skills, it would make melee feel 100% better, can keep skills like gs guillotine (melee charged skills) and such stationary which is fair, but other skills should absolutely be usable while moving.

So... spear with SNS if you want to juggernaut people. Pop the sentinel skill for the 4k shield, pop your consecration barrier for more def and pop bastion, the drop in with death from above. You roll in hard to stop, stun people and then go to work.

The problem with Gs/Spear would be to have different ranges attacks. Make the gameplay feel clunky for yet an other Guillotine x Death Blow combo

I agree, same with bow/spear staff/spear (devs were talking a lot about how cool double handed weapons synergize with spear) yet different ranges and playstyles simply doesn't make it look like good combos. Spear/dagger is the way to go.

Was discussing this with my guild, I’m gs/dagger main and immediately leaned more toward spear/dagger ofc I’ll try out both for theory crafting fun but many are tunnel vision on the two hand passive rather than versatility and how practical it may or may not be in PvP. Not concerned about PvE performance tbh

Only if you're not use to. I play gs/w and sometimes gs/cb as I call it my DMC build. It's been working enough for me. We won't truly know until we have the chance to try it ourselves. It's not good for people who just want to press buttons

Id say maybe we should start thinking about how these other weapons can support the spear rather then the other way around. Not saying it necessarily changes anything but if you can focus more on spear and its lacking areas you can have new viewpoints on the weapons potential. I was watching last night and when whelps brought up the hit and other passives the gs provided for spears dmg and survivability, i started to think about the weapon combos a bit more differently.

the thing is spear passives are looking really bad in comparison to most other classes, u wouldnt really pick it for support value. It offers another form of devotion tho with the heavy atk chance for party which is huuuge best combinations seem to be dagger, gs and sns honestly which is funny considering how they advertised it as a weapon u want to run another 1H with, well the 1H passive is absolute dogshit

Good point. Dagger will, again, be super good at supporting this weapon. There's the combination of 2 passives from the weapons that practically gives you 1200 crit straight up, without any gear. Combine this with Daggers Thundercloud buff which stacks 200+ Endurance debuff and basically any Endurance builds become useless against Spear/Dagger. You pretty much don't have to run Crit on your gear which means you can focus on Hit and other stats. On the other hand, I think this build will also be nice in supporting Daggers as the main weapon, but I'll have to play around with the skills to decide.

@@Bl2EAKIN dagger spear looks decent so far, endurance however is absolutely cracked and u cant really skimp out on crit i play bow dag so i get insane crit from both passives and weapons and endurance targets are very hard for me to kill, in this game 1200 crit has a 44% chance to crit at a target who has 400(!!!!) endurance, 2k crit vs 400 endurance is 62% chance to crit, the scaling is not in favor of crit whatsoever healers get up towards 2k endurance with cdmg reduction from runes now in case they somehow do get crit, i ran lightning in pvp and passive as well to shred base defense on top of it but gave up because speccing to kill a healer is a lost cause, and tanks well rn its valuable to run it though because the end shred stacks due to a suspected bug, so u can in theory get a tank into negatives, but its honestly mostly just xbow players who run lightning in large scale hopefully same effect stacking bug gets fixed, dont think its intended design, or its one shitty idea of bandaid fixing unkillable tanks inside 30 people

I don't think so, he says in the video that it isnt a substitute for sns. You wont be tankier with it, at most with that shield skill you can mitigate some damage, but only enough to run away.

@@Durzo_Blint Serious copium you guys are on. The best 1v1 build is staff/wand. The best small scale builds are all wand+x. The best solo farm builds are wand. The most needed gvg builds are wand/dagger. Wand is busted. The only thing wand doesnt do better then any other weapon is beeing a boss killer in pve.

Greatsword Spear is going to be a stun lock bust damage playstyle. However its sustainability is very low. I'd say go for it if you want to end arena matches fast but for large scale pvp it lacks.

Javelin Surge increases skill damage boost which is pretty good when using the burst type like Brutal Fury, that's so op just spamming skill damage boost on your build

The ignite debuff does not work with staff burns from my understanding correct? So for pve they synergy is not actually there or do you think it can still compete with bow/staff dps?

The ignite does boost CL and the double percentage for JL with your burning stacks. It doesn't affect fireball barrage or inferno wave though.

I think spear would go good with SnS from the aggro skill multiplier too, as well as the pull skill it has with the SnS.

How do you make your abyssal cleave attack faster? I have the runes to +2 attack speed but am I missing anything else?

You can use Gale Rush with auto max speed stacks to apply dots for example. Its how I start my rotation for max Ignite/Burst stacks to use cleave with.

T2 and T1 gear can change the potencial of any weapon, we will know how the Spear will be for real only Dec5th. The spear can deal alot or lesa dmg on global, we cant say for sure

You could def pull a nice combo off with spear gs. Get a tempest on a clueless enemy into the spear dash-> ascending slash-> guillotine. The combo potential is there it’s just that there isn’t as much synergy as sns gs or dagger gs.

It’s also dependent on gear. I’m going gs spear but I have adentus and will be going for Juno spear in guild raids. The focus on max health allows good sustain with the leech ability and with Juno unique trait it would be pretty good. The synergy between specific weapons also has a factor to play.

He’s not presenting a build he’s giving his first impressions on his option on spear in general. The gear in this instance doesn’t matter, from what was shown you should be able to brainstorm what will or won’t work for T1. He also said at the beginning of the video that he will be trying the queens spear on global 😂 take this with a grain of salt as he also said nothing he’s saying is concrete and subject to change once he is able to hard test it.. it’s just to show you the weapon be grateful. 😂

@ I understand that, but part of showcasing a weapon is to also see it’s damage output, which he emphasized in this video, which is why I I said is misleading because he’s using tier 2 gear. I understand just showcasing the skills in general is probably what he was doing, but seeing higher than normal numbers, is that not misleading to you because you might think the spear is probably better than it actually is? That’s my point. Use gear that 99% of the player base will be using, and not the 1%. That will give us all a better idea if we want to use this weapon or not.

He plans on making a video when spear comes out tomorrow anyways for us. Why would he waste his time making a t1 gear set on kr when he can do the same thing tomorrow on global?
