Halibuts are not easy to find, and sometimes you have to use weeks to get one on the spear. On a work trip earlier this fall, I joined Martin for a dive in the northern part of Norway, and it was our only chance to get one.
My previous attempts is ofcourse included, enjoy!

What a flattie! To me, our UK flounders sometimes look the same size when I spot them from the surface!! Haha! One day the Norwegian Halibut will be on the menu! Great spearing.

To estimate the size is nese impossible from the surface, have got the same feeling about a couple of plaices over the years. Saw another halibut a few days later when not hunting. was sure it was the size of a barn door, but too small to shoot

Great Video. How deep do you hunt and dive. And how can i learn it? I am new in Norway and it looks like a very cool hobby 😊 takk for hjelp 🤠

The diving varies, but I shoot most of my fish at 7-10 meters (including all of the halibuts in this video). It’s a fantastic hobby, and Norway is a beautiful country to practice it:) I’d recommend taking a course, check out Frivannsliv.no! There’s both physical courses (best option), or webinars (fourth best option)

Hey mate :) thanks a lot for your videos! very interesting. it looks actually very very similar to the kind of seafloor we have in Brittany(france), you just got some awesome fishes on top of this :)) If I may, could you (please ^^) filter subsonic frequency while using gopro frames? I have quite the heavy setup, and any videos of you, make my neighbors calling the police :) Thanks in advance, and please, continue, that's really enjoyable :)

Hey, and thanks for the feedback! I've never given it any thought, but had some sound issues on this video. Just published a new one, is that better in terms of police calls?;) Yeah I've seen on videos from GB that much of the terrain is similar, and guess Brittany is the same. While we may have some big fish, you guys certainly have more variety in shootable species!

Utrolig bra kanal.

Is it possible you caught that halibut in 2017 near the harbor on the 31st of July 2017? We might have met that day on a sailboat in bodø harbor :D Would be a super funny coincidence
